We, like chirping birds, from the aspect of merit, the eye of wisdom that sees the meaning of profound emptiness has weakened, and we also lack the wealth of merits such as renunciation and the mind of enlightenment. From the aspect of faults, the powerful enemies of afflictions such as uncontrollable attachment constantly harass and harm us, and we have fallen into the abyss of clinging to the self of person and phenomena. This statement of faults is a prayer made for us, the future beings to be tamed. Some scholars think that this only refers to Je Tsongkhapa himself, but I think this is not very reasonable. Second, such as "Being in such a distressed state," etc., one verse. As said, we are in such a distressed state, the treasure of love and great compassion, the teacher, you should accept us. If you abandon us without accepting us, then for us poor beings, besides you, the most loving protector and savior, who else can we turn to for refuge? This is impossible. Third, such as "The five degenerations are extremely polluted," etc., two verses. If you abandon us like this, then now sentient beings are in the degeneration of life because of short life, the degeneration of afflictions because of heavy afflictions, the degeneration of sentient beings because of small merit and difficult to tame, the degeneration of views because of low views, and the degeneration of time because of being in the age of sixty famines, that is, this world where the five degenerations are extremely polluted. When you were a wheel-turning king, when the Brahmin who offered to the edge of the wheel turned into the dust of the ocean, other companions, like prophecies, each made vows in front of the Tathagata Ratnasambhava to hold pure lands, and when abandoning the holding of impure lands, you, the protector, completely held and made vows. The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas praised other princes as lotuses, and you are like a white lotus that surpasses other lotuses. What is the need to praise and say "Good"? This would become an unnecessary fault. In that case, the five degenerations

Although sentient beings in the degenerate age are difficult to tame, the compassionate teacher, you will not abandon those to be tamed. Because when you perform activities, you do not examine whether the beings to be tamed are suitable vessels, whether the time is ripe, etc., nor do you abandon them with an attitude of indifference. You do not have the slightest fault like that, so if they are suitable vessels and the time is ripe, then you do it for the benefit of all beings. If you cannot accomplish the benefit and need to leave it aside for a while, it is only because of the faults caused by our bad fortune. Because the reason is like this, therefore, teacher, you do not have the fault of not benefiting others. The fourth part is divided into two points: the concluding prayer and the author's colophon. The first point is: From then on, under the Bodhi tree, from the hordes of demons... etc., one verse. Teacher, you do not have such faults, so from now on, abide by the tree next to the Bodhi tree, until you have not conquered the hordes of demons, no matter how many times you are reborn, you will take care of me and let me drink the nectar of well-spoken words without ever being satisfied. The second point is the author's colophon: Thus Gone One, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, etc. Gone in the manner of not returning to suchness, and abiding in equanimity, therefore, Thus Gone One. Having abandoned afflictions, therefore, Arhat. The merits of abandonment and realization are all complete, therefore, Perfectly Awakened One. Having dispelled ignorance and increased wisdom, therefore, Buddha. Having the discipline of wisdom or the three knowledges, therefore, endowed with knowledge and conduct. Having the feet of miraculous powers or discipline and meditation, therefore, Gone to Bliss. Having gone to the supreme state of complete abandonment and realization, therefore, Gone to Bliss. Knowing all the vessel and essence worlds and the faculties of the beings to be tamed as they are, therefore, Knowing the World. Taming the beings to be tamed with various methods, therefore, Tamer of Beings. Leading to the right path, therefore, Guide. There is nothing more supreme than that, therefore, Unsurpassed. Teaching gods and humans, etc., what should be taken and abandoned as it is, therefore, Teacher, the others are easy to understand. This praise is...
