Herein is The Lamp Illuminating the Intent of Je: A Commentary on the Three Times. Having attained the inexhaustible treasury of the three kayas, To all the trainees of the three vehicles who possess the potential, Turning the wheel of dharma in three ways, fulfilling their hopes, I prostrate to Shakya Sengge, the teacher of the three realms. All the scriptural and realization teachings of the Buddha, Holding the Buddha's intention as it is, The genuine spiritual friend, the lifeblood of the Buddha, I prostrate to Tsongkhapa, the second Buddha. The garden of a hundred petals of praise, the excellent speech of that protector, Having been fully opened by the rays of the light of intelligence, The essence of good meaning, possessed of six legs of faith, I offer it as a feast for the clear-minded. Here, we shall begin to explain the meaning of "Praise to Shakya King, Swiftly Entering Blessings," composed by Je himself. This has four parts: (1) identifying the object of praise through the manner of offering praise; (2) explaining the manner of praise; (3) inspiring the mind-stream in connection with that; and (4) the concluding sequence. The first has two parts: (1) the manner in which the powerful ones of the world honor him; and (2) expressing the qualities of body, speech, and mind. The first is one verse, "The Three Realms and the Enemy of Power," etc. The meaning is that "The Three Realms" is a general name for gods, but here it refers to the chief of the gods, such as Brahma, Indra, and the thirty-two attendants. "The Enemy of Power" refers to the chief of the asuras, the enemy of Indra, such as Rahu. "Gandharva" refers to the king of the gandharvas, such as Dhritarashtra. "The Possessor of Pride" refers to the eight great naga kings who possess the pride of transformation, such as Nanda. "The Accomplished One" refers to the great sages who have accomplished mantra, although some explain it as a vase. By these examples, the chief of all those who are famous for their great power in the world adorns the lotus feet of the Mighty One with the jewel on the crown of their heads. The reason for calling the gods "The Three Realms" is that some say that they are so called because they know the three times: how they were born as gods due to past actions, where they are born now, and where they will be born in the future.

Moreover, in some places, it is said that gods have three states of birth, existence, and death, so it is said that way, either way is fine. In some Dharma practices, the term "དབང་པོའི་སྒྲ་" is written with a "ས་" prefix, which is a writing error. Because it is written in the same way as the expression "enemy of the gods" appears in explicit words. Second, the verse "The body forgotten by the splendor of flashing gold" means that, like the luster of pure gold in the Jambudvipa River, the clear and bright light flashes, and the virtues of the beautiful and majestic body spoken of by the splendor of the complete marks and examples; also, the beautiful songs played by the king of the Gandharvas with a thousand-stringed lute cannot be compared to the virtues of the speech with sixty branches; and, even if the light like a billion suns cannot fully illuminate the forms of all dharmas, you can see all aspects of knowledge more clearly than that, having such a mind; and, by doing boundless and immeasurable things for the benefit of sentient beings, becoming their supreme guide, praise the Shakya crest. Shakya is a Chinese transliteration, meaning able or powerful, referring to the most excellent among his lineage. The second part has three aspects: with what intention to praise, with what conduct to praise, and the actual way of praising. First, the verse "The stars rising in the pure land" etc., for example, like the images of the moon and other stars rising in the sky purified by clouds and dust, etc., appear completely clearly in the center of the ocean of water, the praiser I, freed from the defilements of disbelief, in the clear ocean of mind, the qualities of your body, speech, and mind, as described in the great sutras and treatises, the images of hearing, that is, the general meaning, appear clearly without mixing, and are praised by means of remembrance. The second part has two aspects: the main text and the request for forgiveness. First, the verse "Lotus touched by moonlight" etc., four and a half lines,
