Not intellect. It appears. The actions of body and speech, those are characterized by having two each, because there are both expressive and non-expressive ones. Among the two, there are expressive and non-expressive ones. In the first, there are two expressive actions of body and speech. In the first, there are three presentations: the establishment of the Vaibhashika's system, the refutation of the Sthavira school's system, and the statement of the Sautrantika's system. The first is: The expressive action of the body is considered as shape. It appears. The expressive action of the body is characterized by being considered as the shape of the body, because it is considered as the way the body stays, etc., due to the power of the mind. The second is: Why do composite things move or not move? Because they are momentary and disintegrate. From the absence of cause, contradiction does not arise. The cause also becomes a destroyer. It appears. The Sthavira school says: If the action of the body, which is that the body goes to another place without ceasing for a moment, is established as the expressive action of the body, then the body is characterized by not going to another place without ceasing for a moment. Why? Because it is not momentary. It should follow that the Blessed One said that all composite things are momentary, so they disintegrate independently. He says: Thus, the third refers to things like lightning, not things like vases, because things like vases depend on later destructive causes like bricks. If so, then no disintegration should occur without a destructive cause of different meaning. It should follow that all things depend on a destructive cause of different meaning. It cannot be accepted, because lightning and lamps, etc., do not depend on it, and are seen by both oneself and others. Some say: Because the brick causes the shape, etc., of the vase to change into another form, it is the destructive cause of the vase. If so, then the potter and the flame, etc., which are the causes of the earthenware vase, should also become its destroyers. It should follow that they cause the shape and color of the earthenware vase to change into another form. If accepted, then it should follow that they are both benefactors and harmers. The third is: Two grasps change, not in atoms. It appears. The Sautrantika says: Shape does not exist as substance, because it is an imputation established in dependence. If it exists as substance, then it should follow that it becomes the object of the two, the eye and the body sense. It should follow that those two
