The Vajra of the essence of the Dharma realm is Samantabhadra. The number of Bodhisattvas, including them, is impossible to fully describe, and they dwell together. Moreover, the Tathāgatas are equal to the space of the sky, such as the Tathāgata Vajra Akshobhya, and similarly, Vajra Vairocana, Vajra Ratnasambhava, Vajra Amitābha, Vajra Ghantapani, and others, dwell together with the Tathāgatas who are equal to the space of the sky. For example, it is like sesame pods, one closely adjacent to another. Similarly, all the Tathāgatas also appear to completely pervade and fill the entire space of the sky. Secondly, the definitive meaning is: In the past, the retinue deities were shown as having different natures from the main deity, which is provisional meaning. Showing the main deity and all the retinue as being of the same nature is definitive meaning, because the retinue is formed from parts of the main deity's body. Not only in the past, but also in the subsequent stages, it is necessary to explain the two meanings, provisional and definitive, for the supreme deities of the two stages of the mandala. In the generation stage, meditating on the deity with faith and mental effort is provisional meaning. At the time of the completion stage, generating in the true state is definitive meaning. Secondly, explaining the mantra mandala: Then, the Bhagavan Tathāgata Vajra Vairocana Mahavairocana, up to abiding perfectly in the nature of touch. There are two aspects to this: provisional meaning and definitive meaning. The first is: From "Then" etc., here Vajra Vairocana Mahavairocana is Vajradhara. The form of great desire that all the Tathāgatas allow to rely on is the form of great desire that enjoys the objects of desire of the vidyā. Thinking that they should be explained, they abide in a samadhi of single-pointed concentration. Then, all the arrangements of the retinue Tathāgatas are drawn by the rays of light from the seed syllable in their own hearts, and are integrated into the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and limbs of Vajradhara himself.

Entering into the nature of the hand. Then, all the Tathagatas who entered the body, in order to completely please the Lord of Body, Speech, and Mind of all Tathagatas, Vajradhara himself, with the joy of co-emergence, hid their own born bodies and manifestly transformed into the bodies of female goddesses, appearing from the body of the Bhagavan Vajradhara, the Great Vairocana. In that manifestation, some transformed into the form of Buddha Eye Mother, Ratnasambhava into Mamaqi, Amitabha into White-robed Mother, and Amoghasiddhi into the form of Samaya Tara. Furthermore, Vairocana becomes the nature of Form Vajra Mother, Ratnasambhava becomes Sound Vajra Mother, Amitabha becomes Smell Vajra Mother, Amoghasiddhi becomes Taste Vajra Mother, and Akshobhya becomes the nature of Touch Vajra Mother, abiding thus. If combined with the subsequent, Vairocana is the practitioner of the generation stage, and the goddess is either of the two mudras, combining with them. Great desire is combined with the mudra, generating great bliss. Secondly, in terms of the definitive meaning, great desire is luminosity. Its manner is the three: appearance, increase, and attainment. Thinking, 'That should be explained,' one enters into the samadhi of single-pointed concentration. Then, in order to show the arrangement of the Tathagatas as retinue to the disciples, abandoning the attachment to the appearance of the external retinue, generating the pride of 'I am the self-nature accomplished by all the Tathagatas,' one enters into one's own body. Here, Vairocana is the practitioner of the completion stage. He transforms his mudra into any of the nine goddesses, equally uniting, and all the winds dissolve into the indestructible point in the heart, thereby experiencing the three appearances and the wisdom of luminosity. This is the meaning of completely pleasing the Lord of Body, Speech, and Mind. Alternatively, the inner method is to perform vajra recitation on the root and branch winds named after the nine goddesses, excluding the pervasive wind. From this, the winds dissolve, and the three appearances—appearance, increase, and attainment—along with luminosity, arise, which is the meaning of complete satisfaction. The meaning of the mandala of dharanis.
