Though countless transmissions have passed, has there ever been someone fortunate enough to explain such a profound tantra? Now, the Guru's excellent teachings are like eye medicine, clearing away the dimness of my small-minded, self-clinging intellect, allowing me to see the meaning of the tantra residing within my heart, causing joy and faith, and making the hairs of my body stand on end. Therefore, relying on the instructions of Nagarjuna, glorious Chandrakirti, and the Second Buddha, I have explained the complete root tantra of glorious Guhyasamaja, to the best of my ability and in accordance with my understanding. Although there is nothing particularly special about this, the way in which the texts of each chapter of the tantra are clearly presented, grasping the beginning and the end, is the unique feature of this commentary. All faults of not explaining or wrongly explaining the profound meaning, due to my limited vision, are mine; whatever part is well explained is due to the kindness of the deities and the Guru. By whatever merit has arisen from the efforts of my three doors in this endeavor, may I in all my lives never be separated from this profound and supreme path, and may I quickly attain the state of Vajradhara. Thus it is said. This complete commentary on the root tantra of Guhyasamaja was written by the scholar Koushi Nangso Yeshe, who is learned in many sutras, tantras, and mundane sciences, and who is unparalleled in upholding the teachings of sutra and tantra in this region through both secular and religious means. He established two new colleges, one for sutra and one for tantra, in his own Chone Monastery, and thinking that it would benefit the tradition of teaching and practice in the tantric college, he urged the tantric teacher, the Shakya monk Drakpa Shedrup, with offerings and requests. Relying on the kindness of the teachers Vajradhara Lodro Gyatso and Lobsang Jinpa, and having become familiar with the commentary on the root tantra, the marginal notes, the summaries, and many texts related to this, and having grasped most of their meaning, I was concerned that some of the meanings of the explanatory tantras derived from the commentary might be too numerous. Also, I have already written separately about the methods of explaining the summaries and ornaments that appear in the commentary, so I have also placed them here. When I did this, following the chapter divisions, commentary, and annotations, according to the very words and meanings of the root tantra itself, all the mantra masters

This was carved into a block print by Ga Chöjung, Jampa Rinchen, and Kunga Chöden when they were appointed preceptors at the Tantric College. May this also cause the Buddha's teachings in general, and in particular the teachings of the Guhyasamaja, to flourish and spread in all directions and remain for a long time!
