Having heard the words spoken by the Buddha, the Lord of Gods, who speaks of the great qualities of the Dharma "E-Vam," he then gave his approval, saying "Excellent!" and the Bhagavan spoke thus: Where? Because the All-Seeing One spoke thus at the beginning, O Lord of Gods, listen in order. "Shik" is easy to understand. Secondly, there are three: How E-Vam is the basis of all scriptures, the method of wisdom; how it is the method of wisdom that leads to great bliss; and how it is the method of wisdom of indivisible bliss and emptiness. The first is: The collection of eighty-four thousand teachings, as many as the number, the basis and parents of all, are thus shown in two letters. The letter "E" becomes the mother, and "Vam" is known as the father. The bindu there is the union, that union is most wonderful. That is to say, as many as the number of eighty-four thousand collections of teachings, the basis of all those scriptures is shown in two letters, just as a father and mother unite to produce a child. There, the letter "E" becomes like the mother, representing the sixteen vowels of wisdom. "Va" is known as being like the father, representing the thirty-three consonants of skillful means. The bindu of "Va" represents the union of vowels and consonants there, that is, the equal union of skillful means and wisdom, and that union is most wonderful, that is, very marvelous. For example, the mother is the common cause of many different kinds of children, while the father is the uncommon cause of the child's kind, and the body of the child is accomplished by the equal union of the two parents. Similarly, the vowels enter into the life of the consonants, becoming a common cause, and the consonants become an uncommon cause, and from the combination of vowels and consonants, names, words, and other collections of speech and scriptures are gradually accomplished. If combined with meaning, "E" represents the ultimate truth of wisdom, "Va" represents the conventional truth of skillful means, and the bindu represents the indivisible union of the two, which are the common essence of both Sutra and Tantra. Secondly, how it is the method of wisdom that leads to great bliss: "E" is said to be the lotus, and "Va" is the nature of the vajra.

Na no. The bindu is the seed, from which the three realms of beings arise. This is to say, also, the triangular "E" syllable is said to be the consort's lotus, similar in shape to it. The round "Va" syllable is the father's vajra jewel, similar in shape to it, holding the pride of the main lord. The bindu of the "Va" is the seed that arises from the union of the vajra and lotus. If applied to the base, then from that seed arise the three types of beings, superior, middling, and inferior. If applied to the generation stage, then arise the three forms of the departed, the hero, and the wrathful one. Third, the way in which bliss and emptiness are inseparable as skillful means and wisdom is: E is the very nature of wisdom, Va is the lord of great joy. The indestructible bindu is just that, from which the letters themselves also arise. This is to say, also, the triangular "E" syllable symbolizes the wisdom that realizes suchness, which has become the nature of the three doors of liberation. "Va" symbolizes the lord of great, that is, supreme, difficulty, that is, the main, innate joy. The bindu symbolizes that which joins bliss and emptiness as indestructible, that is, the indivisible suchness. By practicing that path, the letters of the eighty-four thousand collections of teachings also arise, symbolizing that they turn the wheel of Dharma. These are the general meanings common to the two stages. Third, the benefits and faults of knowing or not knowing the suchness of the two letters are: The two letters of the Dharma seal, whoever knows the explanation of their suchness, he will turn the wheel of Dharma for all sentient beings. Any being who does not know the two letters, and always recites them, he is outside of the Buddha's teachings, like an ascetic who has abandoned union. This is to say, whoever knows the suchness of the two letters of the Dharma seal, which elaborate on the meaning of the eighty-four thousand collections of teachings, as explained before, will soon become a Buddha who turns the wheel of Dharma for all sentient beings. Any being who does not know the suchness of the two letters and always recites them, then they have become outsiders from the supreme Dharma spoken by the Buddha, like an ascetic who has abandoned the union of skillful means and wisdom.
