There are two types of sound: with sound and without sound. It is smelled by the self-holding nose consciousness. It is the definition of smell. There are two types: pleasant and unpleasant. It is tasted by the self-holding tongue consciousness. It is the definition of taste. There are six types: sweet, sour, bitter, astringent, salty, and bland. It is touched by the self-holding body consciousness. It is the definition of touch. There are eleven types: the four touches of the four elements, and smoothness, roughness, heaviness, lightness, hunger, thirst, and coldness, which are the seven touches of the derived elements. The main object of mind consciousness is phenomena, which are divided into conditioned and unconditioned phenomena. Fourth is consciousness, which has a basis for division and a division. First, the consciousness that is thoroughly distinguished merely by observing the nature of the object is the meaning of consciousness. This should be understood by the three ways of what is to be known, what knows, and how it knows. There are six types: eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness. The consciousness of the category that is thoroughly distinguished merely by observing the nature of the object of form, relying on the eye sense, which is its own unique non-common dominant condition, is the definition of eye consciousness. Similarly, the consciousnesses of the categories that are thoroughly distinguished by observing the objects of sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena, relying on the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind senses, which are their own unique non-common dominant conditions, are the definitions of ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness, respectively. Fifth is contact, which has a basis for division and a division. First, the mental factor that arises simultaneously, relying on the aggregation of object, sense, and consciousness, and initially determines the change of the object, is the meaning of contact here. This should be understood by the three ways of who touches, what is touched, and how it is touched. There are six types: from the contact of the aggregation of the eye to the contact of the aggregation of the mind. The mental factor that arises simultaneously, relying on the aggregation of form, eye sense, and eye consciousness, and initially determines the change of the object, is the definition of the contact of the aggregation of the eye. Similarly, sound with ear sense and its consciousness, smell with nose sense and its consciousness, taste with tongue sense and its consciousness, touch with body sense and its consciousness, phenomena with mind sense and its consciousness, aggregated, relying on this, etc., combine as before, from the contact of the aggregation of the ear to the definition of the contact of the aggregation of the mind.
