Now, all the entities that are parts of a sprout do not exist, because they cannot be obtained in any other entity other than the sprout, such as a pot, etc. This is their thought. The three times according to the Prasangika school are: As the glorious Chandrakirti said in the commentary on the Four Hundred: "The future is what has not yet come to the present time. The past is what has passed from that. The present is what has arisen and has not ceased." For example, the destruction of a sprout in its own second moment is the past time of the sprout; generally, although there is a cause for arising, the part that has not arisen as a sprout due to the temporary lack of conditions, like in winter, is the future time of the sprout; the sprout itself that has arisen and has not ceased is the present time. Therefore, if it is its past time, it does not necessarily have to be past at that time. This much is accepted by everyone from the Sautrantikas to the Prasangikas, but there is a difference: As mentioned above, the three, such as the Sautrantikas, consider the past and future, like a sprout, to be non-existent, while the Prasangikas consider them to be existent. That is, just as a sprout arises from its own cause, after it is destroyed, the past and future are also considered to arise from their own cause. Although the destruction of a sprout has arisen, it has not ceased in its own time, but it is not the present, because generally it is only destruction, so it is the past. The future is generally arisen, but it is temporarily placed on the part that has not arisen as its own fruit entity, so it is not the present. The destruction of a sprout is an entity, and similarly, the subsequent similar types of destruction, such as the destruction of its destruction, are all destruction, so it is the past, not the future or the present. Here, destruction is an entity, because death is an entity, because due to the cause of arising, aging and death occur. Furthermore, it is an entity, because the Sautrantikas, etc., search for the imputed meaning of destruction to establish it, so they do not consider it to be an entity, but in the Prasangika system, just as a sprout is established as a name without searching for its imputed meaning, destruction can also be established as a name entity without searching for its imputed meaning. Among the three times, the past and future need to be established in relation to the present, so the present is the main one.
