If one wishes to accomplish the benefit of all beings and possesses the armor that does not diminish, then even residing in cities and large gatherings, one dwells in the supreme solitude of a Bodhisattva. If one loses this armor, then even if one does not encounter others for millions of years, dwelling in solitude away from the hustle and bustle, as far as a Bodhisattva is concerned, one is far from dwelling in supreme solitude and dwells in a demonic realm. As stated in the "Compendium": "Whether one dwells in a city or a hermitage, if one is free from the mind of the two vehicles and is determined for supreme Bodhi, this is the solitude of those engaged in benefiting beings." It also says: "Constantly dwelling in cities, villages, and towns, without abandoning the ripening of sentient beings and striving for Bodhi, not generating the desire for Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, this is said to be the solitude of the sons of the Sugata. If someone dwells in a mountain valley of five hundred yojanas, filled with snakes, for millions of years, if that Bodhisattva does not understand this solitude, and develops excessive pride, then he dwells in a demonic realm." Therefore, it is also mentioned in the extensive, intermediate, and concise treatises. Second, Increasing: It is not enough to merely not abandon it; one should take it up and increase it three times during the day and three times during the night. If one has completed the extensive ritual described earlier, one should do it accordingly; if not, one should visualize the field of merit, make offerings, and practice loving-kindness and compassion, etc. One should recite the verse "The supreme ones of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha" etc., three times and then take it up. This is the uncommon practice of the aspiration mind. In general, if one is unable to perform the extensive ritual of generating the mind of enlightenment, one can also, according to custom, perform the refuge and seven-branch practice in front of the support, as is common, and then recite this verse three times and take it up. Third, Not Abandoning Sentient Beings: One should make all sentient beings the object of loving-kindness and compassion and not abandon them. The standard for abandoning is: Due to someone doing something displeasing, the thought arises, "Now I will never do anything for him." If this thought arises, even the Bodhicitta that has already been generated will be lost, so one should be very careful. Fourth, Training in the Two Accumulations: From the time of taking up the Bodhicitta with the aspiration mind ritual, one should practice the Bodhicitta every day.

为了增长(善根),应当努力供养三宝和回向发愿等。第二,关于修学来世不离此(善根)之因,有二:断除四黑法和受持四白法。第一是:对于堪布、阿阇黎、上师和施主,以虚假欺骗来蒙蔽;对于不应后悔之事,如行善等,令其后悔;以嗔恨谩骂菩萨;在斗、秤等方面作弊,这四者应修学断除。第二是:断除对一切有情说妄语;不对他们进行欺骗;对于一切菩萨,生起如同佛陀之想并赞叹;希望将自己的所化引入圆满菩提,此为四者,是四黑法的对治。这些是发愿和趣入(菩提心)共同的学处。仅仅以仪轨受持发愿心,如果能够修学六度,则可以;如果不能,不修学也不相违。然而,如果以仪轨受持了趣入戒,据说必须修学这些。第三,如果(戒律)衰损,则恢复:如果舍弃了想要听闻佛法的发愿心和想要利益有情的心,那么也舍弃了发心。如果与其他的学处相违,则应多次进行四力忏悔和受戒。特别是,获得菩萨戒之后,必须按照所说的方式进行恢复。菩萨戒:此处指趣入戒。此戒与别解脱戒和密咒戒不同,因此,如果从一开始就没有找到传戒上师,据说自己可以在佛像前受持也会生起(戒体)。第九,关于从发心之后修学何种行为的旁述之义,有二:修学成熟自相续的六度和成熟他相续的四摄。这些的详细分类应从其他地方了解。此处仅说明六度各自具有六度的修学方式:例如,菩萨进行布施时,声闻缘觉的作意和摄持的心是戒律;对于一切智智和甚深法生起信心,以及忍受他人谩骂是忍辱;为了增长善法而精进是精进;

In order to increase (virtue), one should strive to make offerings to the Three Jewels and dedicate aspirations, etc. Second, regarding training in the cause for not being separated from this (virtue) in future lives, there are two: abandoning the four black dharmas and adopting the four white dharmas. The first is: deceiving the khenpo, acharya, lama, and benefactor with falsehood; causing regret for things that should not be regretted, such as doing good deeds; reviling bodhisattvas with hatred; and cheating in measuring and weighing, etc. One should train to abandon these four. The second is: abandoning speaking falsehoods to all sentient beings; not deceiving them; generating the perception that all bodhisattvas are like the Buddha and praising them; and wishing to lead one's own disciples to complete enlightenment. These are the four, which are the antidotes to the four black dharmas. These are the common trainings for aspiration and entering (bodhicitta). If one has only taken the aspiration mind with a ceremony, it is said that if one can train in the six perfections, one can; if one cannot, it is not contradictory not to train. However, if one has taken the entering vow with a ceremony, it is said that one must definitely train in these. Third, if (the vows) are broken, then restoring them: if one abandons the aspiration to hear the Dharma and the desire to benefit sentient beings, then one also abandons the mind of enlightenment. If it contradicts other trainings, then one should do the confession of the four powers and take vows many times. In particular, after obtaining the bodhisattva vows, one must restore them as stated. The bodhisattva vows: here, it refers to the entering vow. This vow is different from the pratimoksha and mantra vows, so if one cannot find a lama to give the vows from the beginning, it is said that one can take them oneself in front of a statue and the (vow body) will arise. Ninth, regarding the ancillary meaning of what practices to train in after generating bodhicitta, there are two: the way to train in the six perfections that ripen one's own mindstream and the four means of attraction that ripen the mindstreams of others. The detailed classifications of these should be learned from elsewhere. Here, only the way to make each of the six perfections sixfold will be explained: for example, when a bodhisattva performs something like giving Dharma, the mind of the shravakas and pratyekabuddhas and the mind that holds the vows is morality; having faith in omniscient wisdom and profound Dharma, and enduring others' scolding is patience; striving for the increase of virtuous Dharma is diligence;
