Oh! Because one does not speak meaningless words, there is no fault of repetition. Because it makes all gatherings of non-Buddhists afraid, it has the power of a lion's roar. Because the voice is very vast, it is like the sound of an elephant. Because it is very profound, it is like the sound of a dragon. Because it is worthy of being received, it is the sound of the dragon king. Because the sound is exceedingly melodious, it is the dragon song of a Gandharva. Because it is sharp and destructive, it is the sound of a Kalaviṅka. Because it resounds far away, it proclaims the sound of Brahma. Because it is auspicious to precede all accomplishments, it is the sound of a śaṅśaṅga bird. The mention of 'sound' is for the purpose of understanding the meaning of this and that. The mention of 'tone' is for the purpose of understanding that it is a sound with the characteristic of showing meaning. The mention of 'resonance' is for the purpose of reiterating the meaning of this and that sound. Because it is not something to be surpassed, it is as pleasant as the tone of the lord of the gods. Because it precedes complete victory over all demons and opponents, it is the sound of a drum. Because praise does not bring about any afflictions, it is without arrogance. Because criticism does not bring about dejection, it is neither high nor low. Because it follows all treatises on sound with the characteristics of all aspects, it follows all sounds. Because one does not speak forgetfully, it is without omission. Because it causes the activities of those to be tamed to be always near, it is without incompleteness. Because one does not rely on gain and respect, it is without discouragement. Because it is free from timidity, it is not weak. Because there is no weariness, it is exceedingly joyful. Because one is skilled in all fields of knowledge, it is pervasive. Because one accomplishes all the benefit of sentient beings, it is without limit. Because there is no interruption, it is continuous. Because it is near in various ways, it is majestic. Because one voice abides in many forms of sound, it perfects all sounds. Because one can understand many meanings from one voice, it satisfies all the senses. Because one acts as one has vowed, it is not blamed. Because one is very engaged at the time of attainment, it does not change.

Because he does not speak rashly, he is not rash. Because he hears sounds equally from far and near, he is universally renowned. Because he transforms all worldly meanings into examples of the Dharma, he is endowed with all perfections. As the noble Asanga said, as explained in the "Light on the Twenty Thousand." In other translations, "realization" is called "no difference," and expression is called "abundance." The explanation of the sixty branches is that the Section on Topics, the Commentary on the Hundred Thousand, the Explanation of the Ornament of the Sutras, and the Systems of Explanation all appear to be in agreement. In the Secret Inconceivable Sutra, the vocal qualities are made to have sixty-four branches, that is, following the universally renowned, pacifying desire, subduing hatred, eliminating ignorance, and vanquishing the armies of Mara. Maitreya says: The sixty branches are inconceivable. The noble Asanga, Vimuktisena, Vasubandhu, and others who have become authorities on the scriptures, all say that the sixty branches are explained in that very sutra, so it is appropriate to examine whether or not words have been added.

It is the excellent determination, and it is the twelve divisions of scripture. Thus it is. Among them, the Sutra section is spoken of in a solitary manner, in the manner of stating the meaning as desired. Why is it not spoken of separately? In the Compendium, it says: Seeing ten benefits, the Thus-gone One teaches the Dharma in the manner of stating, so that it is easy to establish, easy to explain, easy to grasp, and with reverence for the Dharma, it quickly perfects the assembly, quickly realizes the nature of Dharma, gains faith after knowing the Buddha, gains faith after knowing the Dharma and the Sangha, touches the excellence of abiding in bliss in the present Dharma, and by decisive words, makes the minds of the holy ones content, and enters the ranks of those called wise. The section of verses is that in the Sutra section itself, verses are sung in the middle and at the end, or the Sutra section that understands the meaning of straightforwardness, therefore it is the section of verses. The section of prophecies is that the Shravakas pass away, prophesying the time of death and the future, like the White Lotus of the Good Dharma, or the Sutra section of definite meaning, which, after being divided by it, is the section of prophecies because it prophesies the intention. The section of verses is spoken by combining verses, which is two lines, such as "This monk is the teacher, peaceful and free from outflows." and three lines, such as "Here there is no self or sentient being, nor is there life, this Dharma arises from causes." and four lines, such as "All Dharmas arise from causes." and so on, and five lines and six lines, "These are the appearances of delusion, like experiencing a dream, when awakened from the sleep of the darkness of ignorance, the existences of samsara are without object. Therefore, for some, the wisdom of non-arising is the Buddha." The section of self-utterances is stated in the Commentary on Reasoning: It is not spoken for the sake of a person, but only for the sake of establishing the doctrine. Whatever is spoken with joy, for example, when the Muni purifies the field of the vessel and its contents, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are well-tamed and peaceful.
