(A) Since one does not fully understand the underlying tendency of sensual lust, and aversion, and conceit, then one does not fully understand the underlying tendency of ignorance? Yes. (B) Or again, since one does not fully understand the underlying tendency of ignorance, then one does not fully understand the underlying tendency of sensual lust, and aversion, and conceit? Yes. Yes. (B) But if he does not fully understand the latent tendency of craving for existence, then does he not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt? In painful feeling, he does not fully understand the latent tendency of craving for existence, the latent tendency of sensual craving, and the latent tendency of conceit; but he does not then not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt. In the sense-sphere, in the two feelings, he does not then fully understand the latent tendency of craving for existence and the latent tendency of aversion; but he does not then not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt. In the unincluded, he does not then fully understand the latent tendency of craving for existence, the latent tendency of sensual craving, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt. (A) If he does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt, then does he not fully understand the latent tendency of ignorance? Yes. (B) But if he does not fully understand the latent tendency of ignorance, then does he not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt? Yes. (A) If he does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of craving for existence, then does he not fully understand the latent tendency of ignorance? Yes. (B) But if he does not fully understand the latent tendency of ignorance, then does he not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of craving for existence? Yes. (A) Whoever does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving from a certain (feeling/sphere), does he not then fully understand the latent tendency of aversion from that (feeling/sphere)? One endowed with the path of a Non-returner, in painful feeling, he does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual craving from that; but he does not then not fully understand that. he does not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion. That same person, not included in the form realm or the formless realm, from that, he does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire and he does not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion. Except for the one endowed with the non-returner's path, the remaining persons everywhere do not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire and do not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion. (Kha) Or again, whoever from that does not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion, does he from that not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire? The one endowed with the non-returner's path, in the two feelings of the sense realm, from that, he does not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion, but he does from that fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire. That same person, not included in the form realm or the formless realm, from that, he does not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion and he does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire. Except for the one endowed with the non-returner's path, the remaining persons everywhere do not fully understand the latent tendency of aversion and do not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire. The eighth person, in the sense-sphere, in the three feelings, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, that one, from there, does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire, but that one, from there, fully understands the latent tendency of doubt. That same individual, in the unincluded, that one, from there, does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire and does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt. Except for the one endowed with the non-returner's path and the eighth person, the remaining individuals, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire and do not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt. Or whoever, from wherever, does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt, does that one, from there, not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire? The one endowed with the non-returner's path, in the sense-sphere, in the two feelings, that one, from there, does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt, but that one, from there, fully understands the latent tendency of sensual desire. That same individual, in the feeling of suffering, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, in the unincluded, that one, from there, does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt and does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire. Except for the one endowed with the non-returner's path and the eighth person, the remaining individuals, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt and do not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual desire.
