my mind is free from the hindrances of delusion— for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. Beforehand, he thinks, "I will speak a lie." While speaking, he thinks, "I am speaking a lie." After speaking, he thinks, "I have spoken a lie." Having set aside his view, having set aside his approval, having set aside his preference, having set aside his disposition. The simple section is finished. 208. In three ways, the first jhāna and the second jhāna— I attained... I am attaining... attained... I am a recipient of the first jhāna and the second jhāna... I am master of it... the first... The first jhana and the second jhana have been realized by me – thus for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat... and so on... In three ways: "The first jhana and the third jhana I attained... I attain... I am one who has attained..." "Of the first jhana and of the third jhana I am one who has gained... I am one who is master of..." "The first jhana and the third jhana have been realized by me" – thus for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. In three ways: "The first jhana and the fourth jhana I attained... I attain... I am one who has attained..." "Of the first jhana and of the fourth jhana I am one who has gained... In three ways: "The first jhana and the liberation of emptiness..." "The first jhana and the signless liberation..." "The first jhana and the desireless liberation I attained... I attain... I am one who has attained..." "Of the first jhana and of the desireless liberation I am one who has gained... I am one who is master of..." "The first jhana and the desireless liberation have been realized by me" – thus for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. In three ways: "The first jhana and the concentration of emptiness..." "The first jhana and the signless concentration..." "The first jhana and the desireless concentration I attained... I attain... I am one who has attained..." "Of the first jhana and of the desireless concentration I am one who has gained... I am one who is master of..." The first jhana... And the undirected concentration has been realized by me – for one speaking a deliberate lie thus, there is an offense of defeat. By three modes, the first jhāna and the emptiness attainment... the first jhāna and the signless attainment... the first jhāna and the undirected attainment I attained... I am attaining... I have attained. I am a recipient of... I am master of the first jhāna and the undirected attainment. The first jhāna and the undirected attainment have been realized by me – for one speaking a deliberate lie thus, there is an offense of defeat. By three modes, the first jhāna and the three knowledges I attained... I am attaining... I have attained. I am a recipient of... I am master of the first jhāna and the three knowledges. The first jhāna and the three knowledges have been realized by me – for one speaking a deliberate lie thus, there is an offense of defeat. By three modes, the first jhāna and the four foundations of mindfulness... the first jhāna and the four right exertions... the first jhāna and the four bases of power I attained... I am attaining... I have attained. I am a recipient of... I am master of the first jhāna and the four bases of power. The first jhāna and the four bases of power have been realized by me – for one speaking a deliberate lie thus, there is an offense of defeat. By three modes, the first jhāna and the five faculties... the first jhāna and the five powers I attained... I am attaining... I have attained. I am a recipient of... I am master of the first jhāna and the five powers. … and the first jhana and the five powers have been realized by me,” for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. 209. In three ways, “I attained the first jhana and the seven factors of enlightenment… I attain… I am one who has attained… I am one who has gained… I am one who has mastered the first jhana and the seven factors of enlightenment… the first jhana and the seven factors of enlightenment have been realized by me,” for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. In three ways, “I attained the first jhana and the Noble Eightfold Path… I attain… I am one who has attained… I am one who has gained… I am one who has mastered the first jhana and the Noble Eightfold Path… the first jhana and the Noble Eightfold Path have been realized by me,” for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. In three ways, “I attained the first jhana and the fruit of stream-entry… the first jhana and the fruit of once-returning… the first jhana and the fruit of non-returning… the first jhana and arahantship… I attain… I am one who has attained… I am one who has gained… I am one who has mastered the first jhana and arahantship… the first jhana and arahantship have been realized by me,” for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. In three ways, “I attained the first jhana… I attain… I am one who has attained… I am one who has gained… I am one who has mastered the first jhana… the first jhana has been realized by me, and my lust has been abandoned… my hatred has been abandoned… my delusion has been abandoned, vomited forth, released, given up, rejected… Exaggerated, overstated, highly overstated— to one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. By three aspects... and so on... by seven aspects, "I attained the first jhana... I attain... I have attained... I am a recipient of the first jhana... I am master of it... the first jhana has been realized by me, and my mind is free from lust... and my mind is free from hatred... and my mind is free from delusion"— to one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. I attain... I have attained... and I am a recipient of the second jhāna and arahantship... I am master of it... and the second jhāna and arahantship have been realized by me, thus for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. In three ways, and I attained the second jhāna... I attain... I have attained... and I am a recipient of the second jhāna... I am master of it... and the second jhāna has been realized by me, and my lust is abandoned... and my hatred is abandoned... and my delusion is abandoned, vomited, released, forsaken, relinquished, uprooted, completely uprooted. And my mind is free from the hindrance of lust... and my mind is free from the hindrance of hatred... and my mind is free from the hindrance of delusion, thus for one who speaks a deliberate lie, there is an offense of defeat. A Bound Wheel. Thus, having made each root, a revolving bound wheel should be made. This is summarized. 211. By three aspects, the third jhana and the fourth jhana… …the third jhana and arahantship I attained, I attain, I am one who has attained. I am a recipient of the third jhana and arahantship, I am master of it. The third jhana and arahantship have been realized by me— for one speaking a deliberate lie thus, the offense of defeat. By three aspects, the third jhana I attained, I attain, I am one who has attained. I am a recipient of the third jhana, I am master of it. The third jhana has been realized by me. And my lust is abandoned, and my hatred is abandoned, and my delusion is abandoned, vomited, released, abandoned, relinquished, uprooted, completely uprooted.
