Similarly, in the southern lineage, there was a teacher named Kluwo, whose real name was Tathāgatabhadra. He was invited by the nāgas and went to the nāga realm seven times. He expounded many Mahāyāna sutras and clarified the Madhyamaka of Consciousness-only to some extent. The Praise to the Three Kāyas, which is now translated into Tibetan, was also composed by this teacher. In particular, this teacher also composed a treatise called the Essence Praise. At that time, in most of the southern regions such as Vidyānagara, even the boys and girls in the towns sang the verses of the Tathāgatagarbha Sutra. He expanded the teachings to such an extent that he later served as the abbot of the glorious Nālandā Monastery for a long time. This teacher was also a disciple of Nāgārjuna. Furthermore, there was an old Brahmin couple in the land of Bengal in the east who had a son. Because they were poor, the teacher Nāgārjuna gave them a lot of gold, which made them even more devoted. All three of them became disciples. The son became the teacher's attendant and also attained the siddhi of extracting essence. He then became a monk and became proficient in the three pitakas. He was the teacher Nāgabodhi. He also served as the teacher's attendant until Nāgārjuna passed away. After his death, he stayed in a deep cave on one side of the Glorious Mountain and meditated single-pointedly. After twelve years, he attained the supreme siddhi of Mahāmudrā. His life was as long as the sun and moon, and he stayed in that place. There are two names for him: Nāgabodhi (नागबोधि, Dragon's Bodhi) and Nāgabuddhi (नागबुद्धि, Dragon's Intellect). Furthermore, there appeared a siddha named Shingkhawa. Once, when the teacher Nāgārjuna was staying with about a thousand followers in the northern Uṣīra Mountain, there was a student who was very dull-witted. He could not even memorize a single verse in many days. The teacher jokingly said, "Meditate on having horns growing on your head." The student did as he was told. Because his focus was very sharp, he immediately developed the sign of tangible vision, and his horns touched the cave where he was staying. Then, the teacher, knowing that his faculties were sharp, told him to meditate on the horns disappearing.

It disappeared after being put in. Then, after showing him some differences in the completion stage, he was made to meditate. He also soon attained the siddhi of Mahamudra. After that, the teacher and his entourage practiced mercury essence for six months. After it was completed, when pills were distributed to each of the disciples, he hit the pill with his head and threw it away at will, and the teacher asked him the reason. He said, "I don't need this. If the teacher himself wants something like this, then prepare containers filled with water." There, a thousand large liquor vessels were filled with water, making the forest look full. He poured a drop of his urine into each of those containers, and all of them became the essence of accomplishment, turning into an elixir that turns stone into gold. The teacher Nagarjuna hid all of these in a difficult-to-enter cave on one side of that mountain, and made a prayer to benefit sentient beings in the future. That dull-witted but accomplished person was called Shingkipa, that is, the horned one. The great scholar Shakya Friend was also definitely a disciple of the teacher Nagarjuna, but no related history has been seen or heard. The history of the great accomplished Shavaripa has already been told as a story like the source of jewels. The accomplished Matang is also said to be a disciple of Nagarjuna and his son, but he did not appear during this period, but met later. The story of the time of the teacher Aryadeva and others, this is the seventeenth story. Then, the son of King Chandragupta, named Heart Essence Tilaka, was born in the region of Gora and ruled for thirty-five years. A Brahmin teacher named Chanka practiced the great wrathful deity Yamantaka and saw the deity, so the power of the mantra became very strong. He killed the kings and ministers of about sixteen large cities through the action of manifestation. The king then waged war and conquered territory as far as the eastern and western outer seas. That Brahmin killed about three thousand people through the act of killing. Through the act of madness, he also drove about ten thousand people mad. Similarly, there were also expulsion, division, stiffness, and making people mute, and so on.

Due to the sins of harming many beings, he died from a disease that caused his body to crack and was born in hell. During the time of that king, in the city of Metoka (Flower City), a temple called "Decorated with Flowers" was built. The great teacher Makhol resided there and made the Dharma of the Mahayana and Hinayana very prosperous. In the later years of Teacher Makhol's life, King Shri Chandra, the son of the younger brother of the Heart Essence Thigle, ruled the kingdom. He built a temple of the noble Avalokiteshvara and provided for the livelihood of two thousand monks who spoke of the Mahayana. The abbot of glorious Nalanda Monastery, Grahancandra Sangpo, built fourteen clean rooms there and also established fourteen different Dharma foundations. After King Shri Chandra ruled for many years, in the western regions of Delhi and Malawa, a young king named Kanika Lo was appointed as king. He newly discovered twenty-eight sources of precious jewels and lived in great wealth. He also built one temple in each of the four directions and always offered to thirty thousand monks of the Mahayana and Hinayana. Therefore, it must be understood that King Kanishka and Kanika are not the same person. That teacher Makhol is the same Brahmin Thubka Napo mentioned slightly above. Dpawo (Hero), Tayang (Horse Sound), Makhol, Phakhol, Thubka, Choden Rabjor, and Mati Zitra are known as different names for him. Furthermore, in the city of Khorta, a merchant had ten daughters. All of them took refuge, observed the five precepts, and made offerings to the Three Jewels. Each of them married great people of the region, and the youngest one married a wealthy Brahmin named Sangha Guhya. Later, she gave birth to a son and named him Napo (Black). He became very proficient in all the Vedas and their branches. Because he was very respectful to his parents, he was known as Makhol and Phakhol. He became very proficient in the practice of mantra tantras and logic, and even caused the god Maheshvara to personally prophesy. After that, with the pride of debate, he went to Odibisha, Gaura, and Tirahu.

In places like Ti and Kāmarūpa, Buddhists were defeated in debates, some were placed among the heretics, some had their dominion seized, and some were made to pay homage to the heretics, etc., and were humiliated. Then he thought: If this person goes to Nālandā, he will be subdued by the best of debaters, the accomplished in mantra, and will enter the Dharma. He thought: The Buddhists of other places are like the hairs on a horse's ear, while the Buddhists of Magadha are like the body of a horse. He said that unless one defeats the Buddhists of Magadha in debate, one will not gain the fame of a challenger. So, he went to Magadha, and the process of becoming a monk was as before. There, when he became an elder holding the Vinaya Pitaka, the Holy Mother prophesied in a dream: You should praise the Buddha more and more, so that the karmic obscurations accumulated from previously committing evil deeds against the Dharma will be purified. Encouraged by her, he composed the hymn of praise to the praiseworthy for the purpose of confession, and it is said that he also composed more than a hundred other hymns to the Buddha. Among all the hymns, the most excellent is the "One Hundred and Fifty Hymns." When Makhol entered Buddhism, there were very many heretics and Brahmin renunciates in the four great monasteries. The best of the Brahmins, the extremely wealthy and invincible Black One, also abandoned his own doctrine like discarding the ashes of spittle, and if he joins Buddhism, then this Buddhist teaching must be extremely wonderful. Therefore, in Nālandā alone, more than a thousand Brahmins became monks, and just as many heretics became monks. That teacher, because he possessed great merit, even when he went to the city for alms every day, he received countless foods, and he effortlessly supported two hundred and fifty meditators and two hundred and fifty reciters, a total of five hundred monks. The hymns composed by this teacher are as blessed as the Buddha's teachings, because the Buddha himself prophesied that he would be praised. The
