From the mandala of wisdom and compassion of all the Victorious Ones, Skilled in radiating hundreds of joyful lights to all beings, To the venerable Guru who reveals the meaning of the essence, I prostrate with reverence and pray from the depths of my heart. The basis of all auspiciousness, well-being, and perfection, The master who holds the victory banner of the undying sacred Dharma, With Bodhicitta, you regard self and others as equal, I pray to the Guru who is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. The lord of the mandala, the glorious Vajra Master, You see all appearances as the all-pervading Great Bliss, The spontaneously accomplished, virtuous activity, the protector of beings, I pray to the feet of the glorious Guru. With wisdom, you clearly see all objects of knowledge, With love, you widely spread the feast of benefit and happiness, With ability, you illuminate the essential teachings, I pray to the feet of the protector who liberates. Merely remembering your name dispels all obstacles, Having prayed, all needs and desires arise, If one relies on you with reverence, you bestow all attainments, I pray to the feet of the wish-fulfilling jewel. The naturally clear light, the uncreated, innate sound, Whatever arises is the wheel of impartial purity, The feet of the supreme Guru who has realized the oral instructions, I pray to the feet of the venerable Guru. Through the power of praising and praying to you, May the protector always hold me in your care, Until the ocean of Samsara is emptied, May I accomplish the activities of your teachings. This was well-composed by Tāranātha in order to prevent the various praises he had composed from being scattered, and with the intention that it be a common recitation for the students. You hold the chain of rebirths firmly, To tame the disciples in this direction as appropriate, With amazing deeds skilled in methods, May the life of the masterly incarnate teacher be stable! May such pure deeds, Never be interrupted by any obstacles, May all the things you wish for be accomplished in the end, May your life, deeds, and benefit for beings be completely fulfilled! By the power and strength of the ocean, and the blessings of the unchanging truth of the Dharmadhatu, may the lotus feet of the supreme emanation remain firm. Offered by Khenchen Lungrik Gyatso. Prayer: The Victorious One's prophecy, the conduct of a yogi, the successive emanations, the Lord of Conquerors who has attained accomplishment, with the name Tara, intending to tame beings in this realm, I pray that your lotus feet remain firm for hundreds of eons. May all rejoice in the Buddha's teachings, may the essence of the teachings spread in all ten directions, may the undiminishing victory banner be held as the glorious protector of all Samsara and Nirvana. These two verses were offered by the great Vajradhara Lhawang Drakpa. May you always be free from illness and have a long life, may all adverse conditions and obstacles, internal and external, be pacified, and may all the perfections of this world and beyond be spontaneously accomplished without effort. This was composed by the object of praise himself. May there be auspiciousness! May there be goodness! The Stages for Beginners, entitled "The Source of Benefit and Happiness," begins. Having respectfully bowed to the Lama, the embodiment of all refuges, and the Three Jewels, I will briefly explain the stages of practice for the benefit of beginners. Thus, if beginners primarily train in the practice sequence of one day and one night, and their body and mind become somewhat workable, then by diligently engaging in all hearing, contemplation, and meditation, they will attain excellent qualities. So, what is the practice of one day and one night like? Based on making diligence the essence of the precepts you have taken, when the latter part of the night arrives in the course of one day and one night, abandon sleep, drowsiness, and laziness. With the body upright and the mind unscattered, through remembering the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, generosity, ethics, and deities, generate faith, develop a sense of certainty about this life and Samsara, keep in mind the nature and benefits of the path to liberation, and intensely cultivate love, compassion, and Bodhicitta for all sentient beings. If you have received instructions, then engage in a little meditation. Then, when the first rays of dawn appear, perform the elaborate seven-branch practice, including prostrations. At the beginning of the day, either perform prostrations, offer offerings, or give alms.
