Although he had many disciples, the transmission of the Modo Wang (མདོ་དབང་) branched out into three lineages from his own son Sangye Rinchen and the two Zurham sisters. First, the way it was transmitted from his own son is as follows: The great liberator Sangye Rinchen Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo was born as the son of Jamyang Samdrub Dorje in the Iron Tiger year at Tanak Neser. At the age of six, he mastered the tantra of the Secret Essence (གསང་སྙིང་). At the age of eight, he became proficient in the extensive commentary of the Secret Essence, including the woodblock prints. In short, he possessed all the teachings that his father had, including the three sections of Do (མདོ་, Sutra), Gyu (སྒྱུ་, Illusion), and Sem (སེམས་, Mind), as well as Phurba, flesh-eating demons, and nectar, like a vase filled to the brim. In particular, he fully heard the oral explanations of the four river empowerments of the Do, along with the instructions and practices. His secret name was given as Dorje Thukchok Tsal. At the age of eighteen, he received the complete upasaka vows and mind training from Gyalsé Tokmé. In addition, he listened to the empowerments, transmissions, explanations, instructions, and guidance of the new and old traditions from many wise and accomplished masters such as the Zurham sisters, Kunga Lekpa, Drubchen Gonpo Pal, Dakchen Kunga Tashi, and Je Lozang Drakpa, and mastered them in his heart. From a young age, he wanted to become a monk and go to a monastic college, but because there were no other sons, he did not receive his father's permission. At the age of twenty-six, he married Machik Jamyang Bum, and sons and daughters were born. At the age of fifty-seven, he left his family and took full ordination in front of Lochen Gyabchokpa at Chokhor Gang, and listened in detail to the scriptures and root texts, becoming proficient in the precepts of what is allowed and forbidden. Regarding the way he practiced, at the age of thirty-five, he entered retreat at Dechen Drolma, and after a year, at dawn, his room was covered with a web of light, and Amitayus appeared, prophesying that he would be reborn in Sukhavati in the future. In addition, he saw the faces of many yidam deities, and accomplished the Manjushri hand seal subduing demons, without any hindrance in power. He accomplished the activities of Gonpo Lekden, and so on, with limitless qualities. He wrote treatises such as the Secret Essence and the Great Commentary on the Lamrim, and continuously carried out the activities of teaching and practice. He was the wise, virtuous, and renowned Chok Drak Pal Zang, and the upasaka Vajradhara Namkha.
