First, explain the ritual of distinguishing. On the earth of the left foot of the one to be subdued, and on the lifeline of the neck, virulent poison, food scraps, and the combed hair of a widow, make an eight-finger image of the one to be subdued. Wrap the nape of a human around the neck. Then, from white stone, unbroken earth, and beeswax, make an eight-finger image of the desired deity. At the heart, insert the essence of whichever deity, or the letters of the name.
