It is separation. That is naturally luminous. Whatever is the nature of samsara, that is the nature of nirvana. Whatever is the nature of nirvana, that is the nature of all dharmas. Therefore, it is said that the mind is naturally luminous. Thus it is said. In the Kun Byed Gyalpo (All-Creating King Tantra), it says: By abiding in its own state, it is unmoving and spontaneously accomplished. By abiding in its own nature, it cannot be altered by anyone. That which abides as it is, without alteration, is taught as the supreme activity of non-action. Meditating by viewing one as two is a mistake. The essence is one, and cannot be touched by two. Thus it is said. In the Abhisamayalankara (Ornament of Clear Realization), it says: In this, there is nothing to be removed, nor is there anything to be placed. Look directly at reality, and seeing reality is liberation. Thus it is said. The master Naropa also said: Wherever one abides in the aspect of grasping, it becomes the fruit of samsara. One will not reach the end with self-desire. The secret place of wisdom and bliss cannot be accomplished by desire, and there is no attainment. It arises from the nature of non-desire. Awareness is naturally pure in its own state. This is the intention of Samantabhadra. Thus it is said. Whatever enters into the sacred meaning, through the profound and definitive instructions, searching for the unsearched self-abiding, meditating on the unmeditated self-nature, abiding in the non-abiding manner, the spontaneously arising bliss of non-establishment, acting in the non-thinking meaning, being free from the thoughts of good and non-good, is the characteristic of bodhicitta. Thus and so forth, it is extensively taught. In the Madhyamaka (Middle Way) of the master Nagarjuna, it also says: In phenomena that have no establishment, how can there be two, three, and so on? Appearance and mind are free from elaboration. The nature of reality is beyond mind and cannot be meditated upon. Thus, it clearly shows the meaning of the great beyond-mind that cannot be meditated upon. Furthermore, the master Nagarjuna Bodhi also said: There is no awareness in Ati Yoga. As it is placed, so it is. In the non-dual mind, there is constant viewing, and it is not a place of annihilation. Thus, it is taught that it is accomplished by placing it in its own natural state. By placing it in this way, the transcendent wisdom beyond mind, the suchness of non-removal and non-placement, the self-awareness, is perfectly established as manifest. In that state of realization, all the doors of the Dharma well-spoken by the Tathagata gather and abide there.
