With hair styled into a topknot, To the ears of Indian scholars and accomplished ones, Having descended closely and into the vase of the heart, The nectar flows perfectly in this land of snows. Having become the ornament of the throats of many sages, The pure tenets of hundreds of chariot traditions, The good path that illuminates the world, Like the sun, the supreme group of friends, Who with knowledge would not praise this conduct? Whose biography, touched by cool rays, Diminishes the joy-producing lotus that appears here, Thoroughly moistened by the water of renunciation, drinking white at the top, Shows the white smile that blossoms towards the direction of peace. In this realm smeared with darkness, the supreme teachings of the sacred Dharma, Appear like the moon, with boundless kindness. Certainly transcending the realm of immortality, What is the use of speaking of endless qualities? However, like a drop of water to the ocean, With a supremely pure mind, describing just a fraction, Even this will gain the courage to behold the state of immeasurable biography. Even though I am bound in samsara by black and white karma, Tormented by unbearable suffering, I will emulate such a noble biography, May I practice the same deeds as the supreme guides. The essence of all Sugata's teachings, the treasure of Vidyadharas, the precious early translation tantras of Vajrayana, the words of realization like the great drum of the gods, this is the second chapter, which describes in brief how the teachings were propagated in the world. Explaining well how the teachings from then on have been accumulated in this land of snows into inexhaustible volumes. དྷཱི རོ པཱ ཡ ཀ ལཱ ད ད ཀྵ མཱ། (Tibetan) धीरो पाय कला द द क्षमा (Sanskrit Devanagari) dhiro paya kala da dakṣama (Sanskrit Romanization) (wisdom, means, skill, giving, patience) བི ཛྙི རྦོ དྷི མ ནཾ ག བི ཀྲ མ། (Tibetan) विज्नि र्बोधि मनं ग विक्रम (Sanskrit Devanagari) vijñi rbodhi manaṃ ga vikrama (Sanskrit Romanization) (realization, bodhi, mind, going, valor) Having mastered skillful means and arts such as generosity and patience, Completely subduing those who are not friendly towards the direction of Bodhi. ཤི ཥྚིཾ བྲྀ ཐྱ བྷི མཱ ན ཏཱ བ ལཱ ཏྲ། (Tibetan) शिष्टिं ब्रृ थ्य भि मान ता बला त्र (Sanskrit Devanagari) śiṣṭiṃ bṛ thya bhi māna tā balā tra (Sanskrit Romanization) (teaching, increasing, arrogance, power, protection) ཨཱ ཙྪི དྱ དྷྲི ཡ ཏེ ནྲྀ བཻ རྦྷུ ཛཻ ཿ (Tibetan) आ च्छि द्य ध्रि य ते नृ वै र्भु ज ैः (Sanskrit Devanagari) ā cchidy dhri ya te nṛ vai rbhu ja iḥ (Sanskrit Romanization) (seizing, holding, man, indeed, arms) Having seized the supreme teachings from the arrogant and powerful, This lord of men protects the good deeds with his arms. Some kings waste a lot of wealth on songs and musical performances, Some kings squander wastefully, indulging in worldly pleasures, and do not give to Dharma activities. Whatever wealth,

He who exhausts wealth for the sake of selfish gain is bound by his own sins. Therefore, the wise ones exhaust all their wealth for the sake of others without reservation. Whose mind is washed by the water of compassion, who embodies countless immeasurable virtues, to him, the path to great peace appears like a staircase. The beauty of flourishing fame, like stealing the stability of all beings, possessing the supreme kingship, like the beloved of all regimes, like destroying the pride of billions of moons. Accomplished from the essence of merit-gold, the essence of the four assemblies, the towering spokes of the ten virtues, possessing the circumference of a hundred true aspirations, by the hand of karma offered to the feet of this deity. A treasure of virtues spreading fragrance, the pistils of generosity blooming profusely, the lotus of the nature of the lord of men, filled with the sweet honey of joy. Ema! The source of countless jewels, the treasure of nectar of speech, even the ears that hear it occasionally become heavy with the taste of good deeds. Impartial to anything, the victorious teachings like the sun, also feel close to this ruler who is the foundation of merit and of high status. Possessing a stable nature of holiness, entwined by the tree of pure conduct, the shade of generosity is vast, and this wish-fulfilling tree arises from it. Third, it tells how much of that teaching there is in this land of snows today, which will not perish until the end, and how the lord of men establishes endless Dharma-giving as the root for its growth. This has three parts: refuting the wrong views that arose in the past, telling the history of the virtuous, and their actual deeds. The first part: The emanation of the noble Manjushri, the outstanding aspiration of the god-king Trisong Detsen of the snowy land, became a supreme field of merit for the accumulation of merit by the beings to be tamed of the snowy mountains, the unsurpassed secret mantra, the essence of clear light Vajra, and other extremely profound tantras descending from the three lineages, became the heart essence of many dakinis and vidyadharas, and many contents that had not become objects of common practice were brought to Tibet by the great accomplished master Padmasambhava of India.
