Regarding the Buddhas spoken of in the Sutra and Tantra traditions, the differences are analyzed as follows: The Dharmakaya has three aspects: the nature of its essence, the distinction of its blessings. The first is that the Dharmakaya of the characteristic vehicle is emptiness free from elaboration, like the sky. As it says in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "When the fuel of all that is to be known is completely burned, the cessation of that is the Dharmakaya of the Buddhas. At that time, there is no birth and no cessation. The cessation of mind is the body manifested by the Buddhas." Like that. The Dharmakaya of Tantra is the nature of the expanse and wisdom, the union of appearance and emptiness. As it says in the Mahamaya Tantra: "The world, moving and unmoving, etc., in appearance itself, there is no thing." As it is said. The second is that the Dharmakaya of the characteristic vehicle falls to the extreme of emptiness, while the Dharmakaya of Tantra is non-dual appearance and emptiness, so it does not fall to the extreme of permanence or annihilation. The third is that from the Dharmakaya of characteristics, blessings and the two form bodies do not arise. The Dharmakaya of Tantra arises from the blessings of the union of expanse and wisdom, appearance and emptiness, in various ways, such as the five bodies. The difference between the Sambhogakaya and the Nirmanakaya is also like this. The reason is that the characteristic vehicle believes that the two form bodies are created by cause and condition, while the form body of Tantra is not created by cause and condition. As the former says: "Because it does not depend on cause and condition." There are also two aspects to the third, namely the difference of the Sambhogakaya and the difference of the Nirmanakaya. There are also two aspects to the difference of the Sambhogakaya, namely the difference of what is to be enjoyed: the Sambhogakaya of the characteristic vehicle enjoys the white side, but does not enjoy the black side. The Sambhogakaya of Tantra enjoys both. The difference in the means of enjoyment is also that in the characteristic vehicle there is no means of enjoying the black side, while in Tantra there is a means of enjoying both white and black. There are also two differences in the Nirmanakaya, namely the difference of the beings to be tamed: the Nirmanakaya of the characteristic vehicle tames the beings to be tamed on the white side, but does not tame the beings to be tamed on the black side. The Nirmanakaya of Tantra has no partiality towards the beings to be tamed. The difference in the means of taming is also that the Nirmanakaya of the characteristic vehicle has no means of taming the black side, the Nirmanakaya of Tantra

It is the means to subdue both black and white disciples. Furthermore, the Dharmakaya is distinguished by the supreme and immutable great bliss; although the Sambhogakaya possesses the five certainties, all the fields and the retinue of the teacher are spontaneously accomplished appearances of the great luminosity of the basis of self-appearance, and are not included in other appearances; the Nirmanakaya also, through the four means of taming, has mastery over the four activities, limitless and endless, and is able to benefit others, etc. It should be known that there are other differences as well. That same activity of benefiting beings, when the Tathagata manifests the state of omniscience, from the aspect of his own essence, the realms of sentient beings to be tamed are limitless like the ocean, and the differences in the means of taming are also the same, but all are not separate from the play of great compassion, that is, all are of one taste, effortlessly and spontaneously abiding, not depending on the accumulation of merit of those to be tamed, and the differences in the aspirations of the Victorious Ones, etc., as causes and conditions, whatever the nature of the minds of all sentient beings is, that and the wisdom of the Buddha, the essence of the Sugata, the nature of the all-pervading Dharmata, without going, coming, or changing, like oil pervading sesame seeds, abiding in the nature of indivisibility, is the activity pervading in nature, constant in the nature of non-fabrication, and the characteristic of being pervasive and spontaneously accomplished. In the sutra on entering into generating the power of faith, it is said: Manjushri, in all the limitless realms of the ten directions, all the abodes of the Tirthikas, and the activities of worldly people and those beyond the world, all that arises, all of them arise from the spontaneously accomplished wisdom of the Tathagata. Why is that? Because it possesses the unmixed Dharma. Also, in the Uttaratantra it is said: Because of arising renunciation due to the power of others, and seeing oneself and sentient beings equally, because the activity is not completely fulfilled, the activity of samsara does not cease. This is the meaning of constancy. Thus, as far as the limit of space, beings are always spontaneously accomplished, that unobstructed, wise one truly engages in the benefit of sentient beings. This is the meaning of pervasiveness.
