Maho! Thus it was declared. From the Great Perfection One Decision All Liberation Great Tantra, the second chapter, which explains the history and meaning. Self-Arisen Wisdom Vajra again requested: Emaho! Homage to the Bhagavan Spontaneously Accomplished Uncreated Auspiciousness! The Bodhicitta transmitted through historical meaning, what is the meaning of being the root? Please explain this meaning to the assembled retinue. Thus he requested. Then, the Bhagavan declared: Self-Arisen Bodhicitta being the root is, for example, like in the vast expanse of the great sky, all beings of container and content are produced, from the Self-Arisen One Decision Bodhicitta, all Buddhas and sentient beings arise. Moreover, initially in any place of samsara and nirvana, at a time when nothing was established, from the self-power of the Primordial Bodhicitta, kalpas, existence, raising, cutting, and throwing arise. When the five winds arise, the five elements are formed by themselves. From the five self-sounds of that, the five families arise. That is, ignorant, self-grasping sentient beings arise. Because of that, the five poisons are bound by their own lineage and wander in samsara. The wisdom of awareness, the Buddha, arises from itself. Appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana arise spontaneously from the mind. Because everything arises from it, it is the root of everything. Therefore, it is named Primordial Bodhicitta. Just as the rivers of the great ocean flow in all directions and gather into the ocean, everything is born from the mind and gathers into the mind. It is the self-liberated, co-emergent wisdom. Without the mind, there is no container and content world, no Buddhas, no sentient beings, and no samsara and nirvana. There are no afflictions, no negation and affirmation. There is no emptiness and non-emptiness, no realization and non-realization. There is no form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. There is no awareness and non-awareness, nothing at all. If the mind does not grasp, then none of these exist. Everything that is done by the mind arises. Therefore, it is named conceptual mind. Everything arises and is self-liberated from the mind. If one recognizes it as indivisible and one, it is the wisdom of awareness. That clarity without grasping and conceptualization is named the Dharmakaya that pervades everything. Existence is only one, but various vehicles arise. Although various things arise, they gather into Bodhicitta. On the mind, if indicated, there are no objects or characteristics. If established, there is no obstruction, anything appears and

Ah! At the very moment of appearance, the appearance is liberated in its own place. Because it is self-liberation and self-arisen, it is the single certainty. Because everything is complete in the mind, it is called Dzogchen (大圓滿). This name is given to the meaning, Emaho! Thus he spoke. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection, Single Certainty, Great Liberation of All, the third chapter, which is the chapter on the root meaning. Self-Arisen Wisdom Vajra again asked: Emaho! Bhagavan, spontaneously accomplished, uncreated glory, the root Bodhicitta is the only one, but how did the order of the vehicles arise? For this, please explain to the assembled retinue. Thus he asked. Then the Bhagavan spoke: The way the vehicles arise from Bodhicitta is like a wish-fulfilling tree, from which branches, flowers, and fruits are born. Mind essence is one, but various vehicles arise, the lesser vehicle of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas arise, the Great Vehicle Bodhisattvas, Secret Mantra, and the supreme Anuttara Maha Anu arise. All of these are complete, therefore it is Dzogchen. Thus he spoke. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection, Single Certainty, Great Liberation of All, the fourth chapter, which explains the order of the vehicles by meaning. Self-Arisen Wisdom Vajra again asked: Emaho! Bhagavan, spontaneously accomplished, uncreated glory, those who arise from one to many vehicles, do they accomplish one or different fruits? For this, please explain to the assembled retinue. Thus he asked. Then the Bhagavan spoke: It is a mistake that many arise from one. For example, a single sandalwood elephant, blind people think it is an elephant, seeing various things that are not elephants. The fruit of the common vehicle is not one, worldly people desire the fruit of happiness in this life, outsiders practice astrology and Ishvara, Shravakas, Arhats, Pratyekabuddhas practice what they desire, Bodhisattvas practice the path and accomplish Buddhahood, Kriya (藏文:ཀྲྀ་ཡ་,梵文天城體:क्रिया,梵文羅馬擬音:kriyā,meaning: action) Upa (藏文:ཨུ་པ་,梵文天城體:उप,梵文羅馬擬音:upa, meaning: near) generation completion practice and accomplish Buddhahood, Maha Anu practice Dharmadhatu and wisdom. Essence is one, but various vehicles arise, the fruits are different, practicing each what they desire. If they do not realize these as one, they will not obtain the supreme fruit, it is only the path of appearance. Like seeing an elephant with eyes, Dzogchen realizes the meaning of all, the fruit is completely perfect, Ati
