Homage. Samaya, Gya Gya Gya. Mantra Guhya. From the Common Topic, the first chapter of the introduction. Then, to the Dharmadhatu's clear Supreme Mother, Samantabhadrī, The Teacher, Samantabhadra, and The four classes of Ḍākinīs requested thus: Kye ma! Kye klong! Kye ma ho! From such a secret tantra as this, The meaning cannot be fathomed, Please explain it in order. From the unoriginated, primordial Kadag, From the abiding of the all-pervading Jñāna, The manner of abiding of non-erroneous, erroneous, and, How are the path, arising gates, and realm manifest? The signs of progress in practice and liberation, How are the obstacles caused by circumstances? Please explain, Dharmadhatu Bhadra! In response to that request, The oral instruction of Samantabhadrī: Kye ho! Listen, assembled gathering! From the unoriginated, primordial Kadag, The way things abide in their nature is: The essence is emptiness, the nature is clarity, The compassion is capable of appearing to all. Uncontrived, spontaneously clear, That very nature abides. From the aspect of emptiness, it is free from the extreme of permanence, From the aspect of clarity, it is free from the extreme of annihilation, In the state of clarity and emptiness, it is free from grasping. The primordial Kadag is clear, empty, and pervasive, It is not made by anyone. That is the general basis of the beginning. Thus, it arises spontaneously. Ah Ho! Listen, assembled gathering! Two bases have two aspects: The base of knowable objects and the base of reality. The knowable objects and desired doctrines are beyond thought, The base of reality is shown as three. The primordial abiding is the general basis, And from that, the basis of delusion of ignorance, And that very basis of liberation of thought. The beginning is also shown as two: The original, first reality, And the two realities of one's own awareness. The original reality is the same as before, The three of emptiness, clarity, and pervasiveness, Inseparable, unique, self-arisen. The all-pervading Jñāna abides thus. The great Jñāna of emptiness and clarity, From the beginning, abides in three ways: The essence, Kadag Jñāna, Is free from all ignorance and thought. The nature, spontaneously accomplished Jñāna, Abides in its own light of emptiness and clarity. The compassion, all-pervading Jñāna, Abides in the unceasing appearance and emptiness. The Dharmakāya Jñāna, Kadag, is beyond thought and expression, The Sambhogakāya Jñāna is clear with five undifferentiated lights, The Nirmāṇakāya Jñāna arises as various rays. The Jñāna of view is free from the object of analysis, The Jñāna of meditation

Unobstructed and transparent! The gate of manifestation of the wisdom of conduct is uninterrupted. Uninterrupted is the great wisdom itself. Self-luminous, free from partiality and attachment. Self-born wisdom arises from itself. That knowing is merely called wisdom. Among those three wisdoms, obscured by imputed names, the Dharmadhatu wisdom is empty in essence, the mirror-like wisdom is clear in nature, the equality wisdom is free from distinctions, the discriminating wisdom is distinctly clear, the accomplishing wisdom is without effort. The all-pervading wisdom is the nature of reality, the chapter that clearly shows the nature of the primordial ground. Chapter Two is complete. Eho! Listen, assembly of gathered ones. As wisdom abides thus, the way it abides, without error and with error, listen respectfully to the well-spoken words. The beginning itself is like this: In the primordial emptiness of space, it is named Dharmakaya. Its nature is clear In radiance, it is named Sambhogakaya. From the self-image of luminous and clear confusion, it is named Nirmanakaya. In the perfection of emptiness, clarity, and five lights, it is named spontaneously accomplished. That emptiness is called essence. That clarity is called nature. That light is called compassion. Name is also said to be the basis of confusion. When the nature of wisdom abides, when it is divided into numbers and categories, when colors and distinctions are separated, all follow nominal terms. Because it is confusion, it obscures the true meaning. Wisdom itself is clear, but awareness is confused. When ignorance is dispelled, it is wisdom itself. The purification of confusion is primordial purity. In primordial purity, transparency, and unobstructedness, it is named Dharmakaya awareness. In clarity, radiance, spontaneous accomplishment, and all-pervasiveness, it is named Sambhogakaya awareness. To the unceasing, self-arising manifestation, it is honored as Nirmanakaya awareness. Dharmakaya awareness is emptiness. Sambhogakaya awareness is clarity. Nirmanakaya awareness is pervasive clarity. The awareness of emptiness is clarity. The awareness of clarity is the light body. The awareness of the light body is appearance and emptiness. The awareness of the ground is primordial purity. The awareness of the path is spontaneous accomplishment. Spontaneous accomplishment awareness is body and wisdom. Body and wisdom awareness is the lineage of sheep. Awareness and wisdom are not two. Grasping at duality is precisely this. The root of existence is self-grasping. Initially, it arises from six ignorances. Cause and condition are combined. From the condition of the cause
