At the time of manifestation, the retinues also entered into samadhi. At that time, various samadhis arose in the continuum of the retinues, such as: the samadhi called 'without arising,' the samadhi called 'without cessation,' the samadhi called 'without abiding,' the samadhi called 'free from elaboration,' the samadhi called 'free from expression,' the samadhi called 'like a vajra,' and the samadhi called 'subduing the arrogant, taming the maras.' At that time, at that moment, the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, having entered into the samadhi of subduing all maras and wrong paths, without moving from the state of peaceful mind, manifested the form of the wrathful Hayagriva. The green horse head on the crown emitted three horse roars, subduing the three realms. Having suppressed the three existences with power, he subdued all maras and arrogant ones, causing all the retinues to act according to the teachings. From the tantra of Hayagriva Subduing the Arrogant, the first chapter, the introduction. Then, from among the retinues, the one called Vajra Speech, who had become the chief of the retinues, arose from his seat, prostrated to the Bhagavan Lotus Powerful, circumambulated him, and spoke as follows: Emaho! Bhagavan Powerful King, Lord of Compassion, Avalokiteśvara, in order to wrathfully subdue the maras and obstacles with the form of the King of Horses, the view, meditation, conduct, and result that you possess, as well as the combination of practice and activity, empowerment, fire offering, suppression and protection, subjugation, cutting, magic wheels, etc., praise, urging, activity, horse dance, and the order of activities for subduing enemies, obstacles, and poisons, please, Powerful King, explain them all. Having requested thus, he specifically inquired. From the tantra of Hayagriva Subduing the Arrogant, the second chapter, the chapter of requesting the teaching. Then, Vajra Speech said to the Powerful King: Emaho! King of Power! How is the view of the Supreme King of Power? Having heard this request, the Powerful King spoke: Listen, assembly, listen! The view of the King of Horses is: samsara and nirvana.

The Dharma of the past. The Dharmakaya, uncreated from the beginning, the Hayagriva King has always resided. Liberated from the extremes of birth and death, without abandoning, free from extremes, without grasping or clinging. In the self-arisen wisdom from the beginning, nameless, free from elaboration, primordially enlightened. Because it resides within oneself, it is not elsewhere. It is not seen by looking, but self-cognizant Hayagriva is spontaneously accomplished. By not seeking, but resting, one sees the supreme horse. By merely seeing, one also becomes enlightened. There is no looking from elsewhere, one sees from oneself. This is the view of the Hayagriva King. Thus it is said. The third chapter, the chapter on view. Then Hayagriva's meditation is spoken. If you wish to meditate on the powerful Hayagriva, the body is uncreated, great bliss. Hayagriva's body is clear and empty. Clear and empty, non-dual, the best of meditation. Speech is the sound of the self-arisen mantra. Because it sounds as sound, its essence is empty. Sound and emptiness, non-dual, the best of meditation. Mind is uncreated, great bliss. Clear and unobstructed, its essence is empty. Bliss and emptiness, non-dual, the best of meditation. In the nature of reality of conceptual thoughts, the five poisons are liberated in their own place without a trace. Without abandoning, free from extremes, without grasping or clinging. Awareness is self-arisen Hayagriva. Unfabricated from the beginning, it resides within oneself. If meditation and non-meditation are non-dual, in the meaning of no attainment, there is no effort or accomplishment. Like chasing a mirage, accomplishment does not become accomplished by practice. Resting within oneself and seeking elsewhere, even if practiced for eons, it will not be accomplished. Thus it is said. The fourth chapter, the chapter on showing meditation. Then Hayagriva's conduct is spoken. The conduct of the Hayagriva King is, from the nature of the Dharmakaya, unborn, those who cannot be tamed by pacifying wrong views. With the great compassion of the Sambhogakaya, he transforms into the wrathful Hayagriva King. With compassion pervading like the sky, all the suffering and afflictions of samsara are completely destroyed. He makes conceptual thoughts into union. In this way, all phenomena that appear, without attachment, their nature is clear. Merely appearing, their essence is empty. Appearance and emptiness, non-dual, self-liberated conduct. Whatever conceptual thoughts, five poisons arise, without grasping, without attachment, self-liberated. In the state of no grasper or grasped, one acts in the state of Dharma nature, self-enlightened. Without abandoning samsara, self-liberated, not practicing nirvana. If it is said that samsara has no nature, nirvana and enlightenment are the same. In particular, the conduct of Hayagriva is.
