The platform is built with square skulls, but it should not be considered a construction that reaches the top, as that would create a triple gate. Those skulls also have flames burning from their mouths, blood flowing from their eyes, smoke billowing from their noses, are glued together with rakta (藏文:རཀྟ,梵文天城体:रक्त,梵文罗马拟音:rakta,汉语字面意思:blood), are nailed with blue sky-iron nails, have spontaneously arisen male genitals hanging on the walls, pillars of Brahma, pillars of the eight great gods, turtle column bases, dragon demon birds, star banners, field-skin roofs, sun and moon skylights, eight planet amulets, crocodile skull horse faces, and so on. Among them, Brahma

(Pronounced: Gya). Eight oceans of blood churn with waves. And so on. The environment within the protection circle consists of eight great charnel grounds. Everywhere inside and out, from the midst of burning mountains and masses of fire in the form of five-pointed vajras, emanate countless small wrathful deities. Regarding this, the Dharma states: For the wrathful deities, the charnel ground is a symbol of the pure abode, not abandoned by samsara. It is a sign of pure abodes not abandoned by cyclic existence. And here it says: Many blazing rays stir. And so on. The third is indicated by: Ox king, buffalo, leopard, and tiger. And so on. That is, due to the greatness of the qualities, they appear spontaneously, therefore in the center and four directions are lotus, moon, and sun in triple layers. Above that, in order to subdue the arrogant ones, in the center is Rudra, in the east is Gandharva, in the south is Yama, in the west is Rakshasa, and in the north are male and female Yakshas. To emphasize their respective functions, the male deities are shown pressing down on the shoulders with their faces down, and the female deities are pressing on the breasts with their backs up, as a symbol of the purification of the five poisons in these places, grasped by the claws of fierce domestic animals. Namely: In the east, the ox king represents ignorance; in the south, the buffalo represents pride; in the west, the leopard represents desire; in the north, the tiger represents jealousy; and in the center, the bear represents anger. This is the rule of the claw marks. The commentary *Nyi Seng* states that the ox king is the mount of Maheshvara, located in the center; the buffalo is the mount of Yama, located in the south; the leopard is the mount of Gandharva, located in the east; the tiger is the mount of Naga, located in the west; and the bear is the mount of Yaksha, located in the north. Lharje Rongba says: In order to subdue all beings, the ox king is the mudra of the mind; the buffalo, due to its majesty, is the mudra of the body; the leopard, due to its ferocity, does not abandon, it is the mudra of qualities; the tiger, due to its bravery, is the characteristic of great compassion, and also the mudra of the lotus; the bear, due to its ferocity, is the mudra of activity. Here, following the precepts of the lineage of the gurus, we follow the first explanation. Also, regarding the identification of the ox king, some say: Because it is explained in पिण्डार्थ (Tibetan, Sanskrit: piṇḍārtha, Romanized Sanskrit: pindartha, Literal Chinese meaning: ball of food), the lion throne is the most supreme, difficult to tame, fearless ox king and Ge'o. Some, from the *Twenty Thousand Verses*, assert that the elephant is the ox king, the position of the great elephant. Thus it is said. It is said to be an explanation. The Nyang commentators consider these two to have arisen from play. But in the commentary *Nyi Seng*, it is said to be a herd of cows, and also in the *Vinaya Sutra* it says: The offspring of a cow is a species that arises from being nourished by the milk of a lioness.
