It should be done like this. One should regard him as inseparable from the Buddha himself, and as the very nature of bodhicitta. In this regard, all the Buddhas of the ten directions and four times, without exception, the non-human, and the disembodied Buddha-fields, equal to the number of fine dust particles, also carry him on the crown of their heads, pay homage, make offerings, and follow him. What need is there to mention paying homage and making offerings to other Bodhisattvas and Vajradharas? Even the great powerful ones of the world acknowledge him as their servant, protect the mandala of their retinue, and fulfill all his commands according to their wishes. Therefore, one should regard him as the very perfectly complete Buddha. One should regard him as the Tathagata, the tamer of men, the charioteer, the great teacher of the world and beyond. One should know him as the protector, refuge, support, island, captain, guide, and the boat of deliverance for all sentient beings. He is the holder of the great lamp of wisdom, therefore one should regard him as the Buddha himself. Therefore, the yogi who meets with that lama should also realize that he has met with the very perfectly complete Buddha. The Lion of Speech asked: Blessed One, what is the fruition of the yogi who follows that Vajra Acharya Lama, believes in and holds such a secret, listens with his ear faculty, and practices according to the teachings? How should we seek it? The Lord of Secrets replied: The yogi who follows that Lama, believes in and holds this secret, listens with his ear faculty, and practices according to the teachings, is not merely an ordinary person, but a yogi who has approached and attained the bhumis. Sons of the lineage, you should also regard him as a brother and friend. All the Buddhas of the ten directions and four times regard that yogi as a close and excellent son, and will bless him. Why is that? Because this person has the fortune to hear and believe in this secret, and it is also due to the power of accumulating and purifying merit from the other shore of countless kalpas.

It should be known. Therefore, you, the Lion of Speech, and other Vajra Holders, should be known as inseparable from (the Guru). Their accomplishments will be attained in this very life, and other great powers of the world will also obey and serve them. Furthermore, the Lion of Speech asked: "Bhagavan, what will be the result for those future faithful individuals, including the great Vajra Acharya Yogis and their retinues, who have faith and devotion in this Secret Vehicle, and who have abandoned deceit and hoarding? How should we and others view them?" The Bhagavan replied: "Son of lineage, the good qualities of the result of faithful individuals, including the Guru and their retinue, who have faith and devotion in this Secret Vehicle, who listen with their ears, and who have abandoned deceit and hoarding, are extremely difficult to express and measure. Some may give offerings to beings filling Buddhafields, or give up their lives, or practice the ten virtues, the four immeasurables, and the four objects of attraction, benefiting beings through the gateway of the causal vehicle. However, compared to the merit of benefiting one being for a moment through the gateway of this Secret Vehicle with the Guru and their retinue, they would not even equal one hundred thousandth part of the root of virtue. Son of lineage, the merit of some who respectfully serve for countless eons as many Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, or Bodhisattvas filling Buddhafields would not even equal one hundred thousandth part of the merit of respectfully serving one yogi who abides in this Secret Vehicle, even for a single meal or a fleeting moment. Why is this? Because the Shravaka, Pratyekabuddha, and Bodhisattva vehicles all arise from this Secret Vehicle, and the Secret Vehicle itself is said to be a place of refuge, a means of leading beings into it, but not a place of permanent dwelling. Therefore, (the merit of the Secret Vehicle) even surpasses the manifestations of myself, who teach how to tame beings in various ways. Therefore, the qualities of Secret Mantra are inconceivable."

English

Son of lineage, some individuals cultivate roots of virtue extensively through the vehicle of cause for countless, immeasurable eons, yet the merit of contemplating the meaning of this secret vehicle for even a moment surpasses it, not even a millionth part can compare. Son of lineage, some individuals for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, with ordinary beings, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, or Bodhisattvas, filling Buddha-fields entirely with flowers, garlands, scented ointments, banners, victory banners, streamers, pennants, and many kinds of musical instruments, making offerings that fill the Buddha-fields entirely, yet the merit of even a single yogi abiding in the secret vehicle, who, through the abandonment of deceit and accumulation, raises and enjoys a collection of desirable qualities for a moment, surpasses it, not even a millionth part can compare. Why is that? The accumulations of merit and wisdom of ordinary beings, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, or Bodhisattvas, do not compare to even a single pore of one who abides in the secret vehicle; the accumulation of merit and wisdom of even a single pore is far superior, not even a millionth part can compare. Similarly, whatever accumulation of merit and wisdom there is from filling Buddha-fields entirely with flowers and the like, does not compare to the accumulation of merit and wisdom of even a tiny particle of a great collection of desirable qualities; that accumulation of merit and wisdom of even a tiny particle of a great collection of desirable qualities is far superior, not even a millionth part can compare. Son of lineage, therefore, the accumulation of merit and wisdom of a faithful person who, with faith, abandons deceit and accumulation towards the secret vehicle itself, and the lama with his retinue who abides in the secret vehicle, is immeasurable. That accumulation of merit and wisdom cannot be enumerated even by all-knowing Buddhas. Then, the Lion of Speech spoke thus: Bhagavan, the qualities of secret mantra are immeasurable. Sugata, you are immeasurable.
