Ultimately, it is said to be Buddhahood. As it is said in the root tantra, this is the second chapter, which shows all things as they are. Then, the teacher explained to the assembly, repeating the nature of Dzogchen. The self-existing, spontaneously perfect nature is Dzogchen itself. It has always existed in the Great Perfection. In the nature of all things being complete, there is no distinction between good and bad, acceptance and rejection. Those who strive on the path, practice, and meditate are said to contradict this Great Perfection. The Vajra body, without the duality of cause and effect, exists spontaneously without birth or death. In the meaning of existence, there is no duality, for example, there is no Dharma and Buddha. Looking with conceptual thought appears to be confusing. Examining the causal vehicle is wrong. The stages of the path are fundamentally non-existent. The path is a direct path, it is perfection. Entering and viewing and guarding, etc., are spontaneously perfect without needing to be sought. Because there is no doubt of meditation and mind, Dzogchen is the expanse of space. In the expanse of space, there is no need to guard, meditate, enter, view, or act. The Great Perfection expanse is immeasurable in any way. This Great Expanse is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. Those who seek this should not seek it from elsewhere. Abiding in oneself, yet seeking it from elsewhere, even if you seek for three kalpas, you will not find it. That which the Buddhas did not seek, likewise, sentient beings seeking will not find it. Not seeking, everything abides in its own nature. Those who abide on the path of striving and practice, even if they melt silver into gold, it cannot become gold. Expressing symbols in words deviates from the path. How can it become the meaning of this Great Perfection? For the Dharma nature that is invisible and without appearance, however one looks at it and thinks about it with one's own mind, it becomes confusing. If you do not fixate on thinking itself, then that is the single essence. This Great Perfection, which does not manifestly abide, cannot be symbolized even by the Buddhas. Likewise, there is no looking with looking. Not looking is looking. If you do not fixate on that nature, those are the Bodhi Great Perfection. This Great Perfection, which does not manifestly abide, cannot be symbolized even by the Buddhas themselves. Seeking and striving cannot cure the disease. Abiding without seeking is the Great Perfection. There is no door or gap, no looking, no meaning of abiding. In the Great Perfection where actions are completely pure, entering, viewing, guarding, and speaking are mistaken. Not entering, not viewing, not guarding, if you do not abide on the path of practice, then that is

It is the self-nature Dzogchen itself. To whom nothing is shown, nothing is meditated upon, nothing is sought, and there is nothing to seek. Everything is spontaneously perfect, and since it is Dzogchen from the beginning, it is said to be the sole play of the Buddhas themselves. Thus, from the root tantra: Dzogchen is beyond recitation, effort, and accomplishment. The chapter on showing this is the third. Then, the Teacher said to the assembly: The teaching on the nearness and distance of the path is as follows: Whatever you practice, whatever you look at, whatever you meditate on, you err by proceeding on a path that is no path. This Dzogchen has no doors or gaps. Everything is the sole vajra body. The non-dual, unchanging, true path. Those who wish to proceed by a path, all of you, entering the path through the pathless is delusion. Even if you penetrate the ten bhumis, you will still obscure enlightenment itself. If there is no meaning in abiding in the unmoving nature, then you will be seized by afflictions as the cause for going to higher realms. Entering the path through the pathless makes it extremely difficult to find the place. Like an elephant tormented by thirst pursuing a mirage. Even if you proceed for kalpas, it will be extremely difficult to reach. This essence of the one vehicle. Through conceptual thought, many paths of vehicles have been opened. This opening of many is it. Apart from this, the path will not be found. Even if the path is found, it is a deluded path. Like an elephant sinking into the mire. Those who proceed on the path and then obtain, are not in accordance with actionless dharma. Because seeing this is without enlightenment, there is no perfection of the path. Where there is no going, that is the state of suchness. Apart from this definitive path, there is no path of greater ease. Thus, from the root tantra: The chapter on showing the nearness and distance of the paths of the higher and lower vehicles is the fourth. Then, the Teacher said to the assembly: It is taught that it is difficult to obtain the fruit of enlightenment through the actions of compounded body and speech. Likewise, that meaning is uncompounded from the beginning. Since it is indestructible in the three times, it is the vajra body. The fruit is not accomplished by what is taught in this tantra. If, in mudras such as ritual practices, the path of the nature of liberation does not abide, then if the Buddhas of the three times found the path through that basis, then everything abides in the essence of the dharmata mudra. The illusory mudra is subdued into the ritual mudra. It abides in the path of the liberation of the fruit. Likewise, if the path of complete purity is found, then seeing, hearing, and so forth, abide in the essence of the mudra. Through offerings, generosity, and so forth, if it is not seized by the vajra mind, then through great pride, it is bound by
