Sama! After asking this, the Teacher spoke to the retinue: In order to generate faith in those of low intelligence, the primordially pure (Tibetan: ཀ་དག་), the non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་) cannot be shown. However, for those who are deluded and ignorant and do not understand, it is explained like a clear lamp in the darkness. In the invisible and imperceptible room of light, there is no ignorance, the primordially pure (Tibetan: ཀ་དག་), beyond mind, there is no substance. Nothing at all, yet appearing as everything, is the source of all things. Non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་), various things, duality is not established. In the state of emptiness and clarity, there is no name for anything. Neither existence nor non-existence, nor anything else, is established. Equality and inequality, there is no distinction or calculation. Non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་), the self-arisen state is clear and bright. Empty, void, bright, clear. This is merely a name, nothing at all is established. Subtle and difficult to understand, beyond non-thought and thought. This most secret non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་) emptiness, the ear has not heard, the tongue cannot speak. The mind cannot remember, the heart cannot hold. Wisdom cannot examine, it is beyond the realm of mind. The eight consciousnesses have not become objects, there is no calculation of consciousness. The five senses have not become objects, it is beyond the target. It is beyond all examples, so it cannot be shown. Thus he spoke. From the Tantra of the Vast Expanse of Space, the third chapter, which teaches that the non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་) cannot be indicated. Then Vajrasattva asked the Bhagavan, Lord of Secrets: How does the essence of the heart abide? After asking this, the Teacher spoke to the retinue: The essence of the heart cannot be indicated. For now, with the lamp of speech, I will explain to the assembled retinue of devotees. The essence of the heart abides in this way: It abides in the primordially pure (Tibetan: ཀ་དག་) emptiness. It abides in the true non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་). It abides without birth. It abides without cessation. It abides without duality. It abides in the great self-liberation. It abides without cause, condition, or antidote. Non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་) is beyond mind. It abides without action. It abides without movement. It abides without distinction or calculation. It does not have the appearance of anything that exists. The non-existent (Tibetan: དངོས་མེད་) that is nothing at all, cannot be symbolized, it is beyond example. Emptiness is clear, without grasping or thought. Deeply clear, invisible, clearly transparent. Empty, clear, vast, clear and bright. No matter how things appear, they are not established. Thus he spoke. From the Tantra of the Vast Expanse of Space, the fourth chapter, which teaches the essence of the heart. Then Vajrasattva asked the Bhagavan

Then, to the Lord of Secrets, [Vajrasattva] asked: "How do the branches of the radiant energy manifest?" Having asked this, the Teacher spoke to the assembly: "The unobstructed branches of radiant energy, the various ways they manifest are inconceivable. I will briefly explain to the assembly, listen. Without the cause of change, from the very basis of the unobstructed space, radiant energy, wisdom, awareness, and wind arise. In the state of nothingness, everything arises. From the state of non-existence, all things arise. From the state of non-being, various things arise. From the state of unborn, mind and awareness arise. From the state of unceasing, the two gates arise. Because the ground is not grasped, the three realms arise. Because the symbols are not understood, the three realms arise. Because the root is not severed, there is confusion into the five aggregates. Without becoming space, the six realms revolve. Before arising, ignorance arises. Before clarity arises, darkness appears. Without experiencing bliss, suffering is experienced. Object and mind, rejection and acceptance, grasping and being grasped, appearances, concepts, attachment, hatred, partiality, all these are beyond thought and cannot be fully expressed. The root is ignorance, the ego, grasping, desire, and seeking. The branches are unobstructed and inconceivable." Thus he spoke. This is the fifth chapter, showing how the branches manifest. Then Vajrasattva asked the Bhagavan, Lord of Secrets: "How do the branches of radiant energy dissolve into the essence?" Having asked this, the Teacher spoke to the assembly: "In the essence, in the pure space of the Dharma realm, unobstructed radiant energy, awareness, mind, thought, all dissolve into the essence of the self-arisen, natural purity. The branch paths of the essence grasp their own ground. Cutting through delusion, increasing stability, they become the essence realm. All mind, thought, memory, and awareness cut through the root of delusion. In clear purity, without effort, cause, or condition, delusion is cut through, darkness is cleared, and enlightenment is attained." Thus he spoke. This is the sixth chapter, showing how all the branches of radiant energy, wisdom, awareness, memory, and thought, without exception, dissolve into the essence realm, completely gathered and absorbed. Then Vajrasattva asked the Bhagavan, Lord of Secrets: "How are the three poisons severed from the root?" Having asked this, the Teacher spoke to the assembly: "Recognizing the three poisons, they are severed from the root. They are not abandoned, purified, or transformed. Ignorance is the indivisible Dharmakaya. Hatred is the clear light Sambhogakaya. Desire is the pure Nirmāṇakāya. If one has confidence in recognizing and severing the root, the three bodies of the Buddhas of the three times are perfected." Thus he spoke. In the vast expanse of space,
