Without bias. Without happiness or suffering, both are absent. Without awareness or agitation, without mind. Without center or edge, without direction or boundary. Light and non-light, there is no distinction. Without knowing, abiding in its own state, without conceptual thought. This is what can be pointed out, but even Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra) cannot express it with symbols. The most secret essence, cannot be heard from elsewhere by the ear consciousness. Likewise, not even a particle of it can be spoken by the tongue consciousness. This essence, which is not the object of the seven aggregates, is the essence because it pervades everything. Without attachment, appearing as anything, this is the unobstructed display of self-nature. Without manipulation, it dissolves into the space of the Dharmakaya. The limbs and essence naturally dissolve, and the essence and limbs meet, transforming into the great, non-dual Dharmakaya. Agitation arises from ignorance, the Dharmakaya without awareness is self-enlightened. The door of delusion of ignorance awakens, and wisdom increases. Dualistic grasping is without support, self-enlightened. Without grasping, without reliance, unchanging increases. The aspect of action awakens, non-action increases. From power, one is originally enlightened. Called the original Buddha. Thus it is said. From the Root Tantra of the Quintessence of Precious Essence, the Second Chapter, which teaches the reality of the original ground and the primordial enlightenment of Kuntuzangpo. Then, Vajrasattva asked the mind-essence Kuntuzangpo: When self-nature is equal in the ground, Kuntuzangpo is enlightened without effort or seeking, how do the sentient beings of the three realms become deluded? After asking this, Kuntuzangpo replied: From the beginning, it is said to be the all-pervading ground. The self-nature of the essence is immovable, the way it appears is without limit, the display of self-nature, the radiance of awareness, is without cessation. From agitation, the wind moves, and awareness moves with it. From radiance, it appears as light. Not knowing how to return is ignorance, not knowing the key point is not understanding the meaning. Therefore, ignorance is said to be darkness. Agitation is caused by the wind, obstructed by the darkness of obscuration, and the door of delusion of ignorance appears as a condition. It is not done by anyone, but by natural or forceful agitation, it is confused into the three wheels of mind. Not grasping the essence of one's own ground, from the arising of the essence of awareness, it is confused into the mind that seeks everywhere. Not grasping the self-nature of one's own ground, from this agitation into mind, it is confused into the mind that determines. Not grasping the self-nature of compassion, from this attachment to mind, it becomes the certainty of

Deluded in the mind. Due to delusion in the three wheels, The form of wisdom and the form of light, And the form of flesh arise as three. Since the form of wisdom has no support, The mind and consciousness wander in confusion, Due to wandering in all directions, Attachment arises, mistaking mother for non-mother. Therefore, one falls into the door of the womb. The father's lineage of hatred matures into bone, The mother's lineage of desire matures into blood. From the cause of the three poisons, body, speech, and mind, Successive delusions mature into fruit. Delusion arises suddenly from nothing, Delusion in the three: things, conditions, and appearances. Appearances are seen as parents, and labeled as parents, Clinging to parents, one becomes attached to them. Appearances are seen as children, and labeled as children, Clinging to children, one becomes attached to them. Appearances are seen as land and wealth, and labeled as such, Clinging to land and wealth, one becomes attached to them. From the delusion of appearance, labeling, clinging, and attachment, All phenomena (sNang srid) are deluded from this. Taking the non-existent as existent, with mind and consciousness, One experiences suffering as in a dream. The three realms and six paths are deluded by this. The suffering of birth, aging, sickness, and death, And the suffering of not finding what is sought, The suffering of fearing the loss of what is possessed, The fear of encountering hated enemies, The fear of separation from loving friends, The suffering of physical illness, And the suffering of mental desires, The suffering of biased appearances, And so on, hundreds of thousands of such sufferings, Are not caused by anyone, but are self-inflicted. For example, like the saliva of a Rakshasa, Or a silkworm wrapped in its cocoon. Arising from oneself, one becomes deluded by oneself. Like mistaking a puppet for a person, Or mistaking a rope for a snake, Or mistaking a mirage for water. As these examples show, Delusion arises from taking the non-existent as existent. Delusion arises from taking the untrue as true, Delusion arises from taking the impermanent as permanent. Such delusions and sufferings, Though caused by karma, conditions, and self-effort, Can be cut off at the root, as they are baseless. For example, the black Hala poison, If eaten unknowingly, causes death, But if recognized as poison, it will not be eaten. With skillful means and mantras, one recognizes the poison, And eating it does not cause death, but turns into medicine. Likewise, the five poisons of delusion, By cutting off their root, as they are baseless, Delusion ceases, and wisdom becomes clear. Like darkness falling, dawn breaking, and the sun rising, Though darkness has not vanished, light is clear. When the sun of precious wisdom rises, The darkness of ignorance and delusion is dispelled. Without abandoning the appearance of delusion, light is clear.
