Oṃ! For the sake of the yogis who are devoted to the definitive meaning, the way to settle the mind is as follows: Example, meaning, sign, and samādhi experience, the way to settle, the way to generate, the way to adjust, these eight aspects should be known. Qualities are shown in three aspects. The example to illustrate is as follows: Just as a pure Brahmin bathes and then reigns over all kingdoms, from the womb onwards, all sentient beings abide in the non-dual nature of enlightenment. To realize that meaning: the object of focus

It cannot be controlled. When awareness becomes dull, pacify it with the method of gathering and dispersing. When awareness becomes agitated, chase it with slow rhythm, entering from behind, it will naturally return to its place. For example, just like when a thief is first discovered, without chasing him away, he will naturally calm down. The nature of mind is the nature of Dharma, let the nature naturally manifest. The experience of a yogi who realizes this is that the body is like cotton, and the flow of breath in and out is not felt. The nature of Dharma is the great experience of bliss and clarity. The way merits arise is as follows: without boundaries, like the sky; without destruction, like a vajra; without attachment, like a bee; it is the essence of self-born wisdom. From the Tantra of the Precious Garland of the Lamp of Secret Wisdom, the fourth chapter on teaching the method of settling the mind. Then, Vajrasattva asked again: Kyeho, Lord of Secrets, you are without faults and perfect in qualities. In order to distinguish between demons and Dharma, please explain the characteristics of demons. The Lord of Secrets said: Kye, great Bodhisattva, listen. In distinguishing between demons and Dharma, eighteen aspects are explained here. Form resides as the demon of aggregates, sons and others transform into the demon of gods, grasping onto that is the demon of afflictions, the deluded mind is the demon of the Lord of Death, needed wealth is also a demon, harmful spirits and gods are the same. The demon of viewing emptiness as annihilation, the demon of meditating in a daze without benefit, the demon of acting spontaneously without thought, endless desire is the demon of results, subtle contentment is the demon of hearing, disturbance of channels and winds is the demon of wind, wrong views are the demon of Dharma, unbreakable vows are the demon of vows, chaotic enjoyment is the demon of distraction, involvement in affairs is the demon of friends, doubt arising is the demon of experience, wisdom not grasped by skillful means is the demon of wisdom. Knowing obstacles and hindrances, eliminating the obstacles of demons benefits experience. From the Tantra of the Precious Garland of the Lamp of Secret Wisdom, the fifth chapter on teaching the characteristics of demons. Then, Vajrasattva asked again: Kyeho, Lord of Secrets, in order to eliminate the fear of demons, please show a fearless refuge. Vajradhara said: Kye, great Bodhisattva, listen.

If the mind is not recognized, demons arise. Recognizing its existence is refuge. Thus, this is how to identify and introduce it: Recognize appearances as knowledge. The nature of mind is emptiness. Emptiness is without grasping and beyond thought. Beyond thought, free from extremes, is the Dharmakaya. Being free from the disease of clinging to effort, when one realizes it abides spontaneously, that inseparable state is the ornament of a yogi. Seeking elsewhere, one will not find refuge from fear. Self-arisen wisdom is like a fierce escort. Because one realizes one's own mind as the Dharmakaya, one is free from the disease of fear. From the Secret Wisdom Lamp, the Precious Garland of Instructions Tantra: The Sixth Chapter, Eliminating the Fear of Demons. Then, again, the hero Vajra asked: "O Lord of Secrets, for dispelling the darkness of ignorance, please speak to me of the nectar-like medicine of definitive meaning." The Lord of Secrets replied: "O great hero, listen! For those who trust in the teachings of the tantras, first perform the empowerment well, and then explain it correctly. Meditate clearly on the suchness of reality without distraction. The mind is without thought and wisdom is clear. Because it does not move from its natural state, it is like having gone to the Golden Isle. The intention is equal to Vajradhara. If one is clear about that and not attached, then one abides in the true meaning. When agitation and sinking arise due to the power of attachment, aversion, and ignorance, entrusting the mind to the outer, inner, and secret will pacify them. When the elements are comfortable, practice long sessions; when uncomfortable, practice four sessions. Then, decide through seeing, and be liberated from the objects of the two extremes. Without an object of focus is bodhicitta. In wisdom without grasping, all phenomena are one in bodhicitta. Mind is like the nature of space. Because it is of one taste without characteristics, unborn liberation is the food of nectar, destroying the poison of seeing things as real. This great path of bodhicitta liberates from seeing things as empty. If one gives a name to the unnameable nature of mind, it is conceptual thought. Therefore, the nature of reality is beyond conceptual thought. The wisdom of conceptual thought is very wonderful. That is the cause of supreme wisdom. Therefore, without attachment to existence or non-existence, in the true nature of bodhicitta, do not add to its existence, nor deny its non-existence. Therefore, it transcends the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Om.
