In each separate category, the oral instruction Vajrayana descends into one place. Thus, the teacher, possessing great qualities and with compassion, taught for the sake of future generations. The first chapter of the introduction. Thereafter, the teacher resided in the form of a vajra body. At that time, at that moment, among the retinue, Vajrasattva asked: Sentient beings of the three realms of samsara, contemplate birth and death, like the turning of a water wheel, like the wheel of a carpenter's wheel. There is no end to the time of liberation from the four sufferings. From this cycle of existence, a method to attain liberation. Extract the essence of certainty from the heart. For the sake of future generations, please remain and teach. When thus asked, the teacher spoke thus: All of you, Vajrasattva and others, listen to the profound instructions of body, speech, and mind. For the sake of future generations, this golden turtle, the root tantra of the Vajrayana. This is completely drawn out in verse form. Sentient beings of the three realms of samsara, contemplating birth and death, and wandering in samsara. Because they do not understand as it is, they wander. In order for sentient beings of the three realms of samsara to attain liberation, although there are as many as eighty-four thousand dharma doors, extract the essence of certainty from the heart, and completely summarize the root and teach this. Without error, be certain, and place it in your heart. If you are not certain, you will wander in the three realms. Sentient beings of the three realms of samsara, contemplating birth and death, abiding as it is, but not abiding as it is. Not in accordance with this, conceptual thought will arise. If you accumulate the cause of that contemplation, you will wander in the three realms. The causes and conditions of that conceptual thought are countless. Habits and so on appear like combing hair. The causes and conditions of that, the meaning of that does not appear in that. If you do not contemplate, abiding as it is, that is suchness. Non-thinking, non-eternal, beyond the realm of contemplation. Without contemplation, beyond the realm, is the clear expanse of space. The expanse of space is inherently suchness. If you contemplate, then things have shape and color. Here there is no shape and color, the empty realm of no things. That which cannot be transformed into anything is suchness. Suchness is devoid of all representation. Like pointing to the moon, but the moon and the finger that point to it are not one, they are far apart. Thus, although that and those two are far apart, the reality is

You will surely appear to yourself. Likewise, realization is the sole Buddha. The Buddha, all-knowing in every aspect, Know that which he has shown, that very nature. Although many distinctions of vehicles are taught, Condensed, the four doors, the general principle, mind, and five. These four doors, I have taught as merely provisional, Entering here, one becomes accompanied by conceptual thought. From that conceptual thought, it is difficult for that nature to arise. It is said that the result comes through many lifetimes. This general principle of all the inner and outer canons, I have taught as definitive, completely perfect, It is difficult to show to those to be tamed in a superficial way. This itself, being complete with the two accumulations from the beginning, the two obscurations are purified. The meaning of purity is inherently suchness. Suchness is truly taught as the Middle Way. Transcending the two pleasures of existence and non-existence. Difficult to examine in any way, difficult to realize through examination. Like an iron cage tightly sealed, Likewise, it is difficult to show this meaning of suchness. Unfathomable, difficult to cut, like an ocean of essential instructions, Precious and difficult to find, like a pure crystal egg, Rare and difficult to find, like a wish-fulfilling jewel. The person who realizes this is like an udumbara flower. This is difficult to see, like a golden turtle appearing. Those who see this meaning do not see this. Unseen seeing, inherently suchness. Uncorrupted, abiding as it is, in suchness, The non-dual Buddha abides in the realm of meditation. Practicing, searching, praying, speculating is like a child. The ground and path are non-dual, the journey has no beginning or end. The door and the inner chamber are non-dual, everything is suchness. Desiring a path where there is no path is like an elephant seeking a footprint. Traveling for eons, it is extremely difficult to attain this. Everything is suchness, it abides there. The vajra realm is vast, everything is primordially Buddha. This meaning, when destroyed by sound and measure, the signs do not meet. Dualistic extremists fall into eternalism and nihilism. This meaning, who speaks of it in this way, the stream of conceptual thought? That conceptual thought has no supreme side. Unthought, unconsidered, non-thought is suchness. That meaning is extremely deep, difficult to fathom and cut. It is not destroyed by measure, nor can it be represented by example. The two truths are non-dual, without words, without letters. Without obscuration, without searching, not even a speck of dust for prayer. Not relying on scriptures, not seeking a vehicle, This which is primordially pervasive, primordially Buddha, Upon realization, one is immediately Buddha.
