If demons arise, do not add embellishments to the meaning of self-origination. This is the instruction for certain understanding of its meaning, subdue with power, abandoning evil vessels. Now, listen, all assembled ones. Those demons of decline as well, if realized, are the supreme path of yogis. Therefore, do not speak of practice. This is the intention of the Buddha. From the Tantra of the Spontaneous Wheel of Bliss, the Essence of the Wonderful Meaning of the Great Perfection, the chapter on Subduing the Demons of Decline with Power, the twenty-fourth. Vajrasattva again requested: When the fruit is attained by subduing with the realization of one's own mind, when does one become a Buddha? Please explain, Omniscient Teacher. Hearing the meaning of the request, he gave the command: One who possesses the confidence of a yogi's realization, at the end of life, at the time of death, the earth, water, fire, and wind gradually dissolve, when the breath is stacked and panting, at that time, the appearance of this declines, and when the appearance of the next arises, when the appearance of consciousness arises, it is seen like smoke and mirage. It seems that the elements are destroyed without substance. At that time, after this appearance declines, self-appearance increases, like the light of a firefly. The meaning of slight clarity appears, and at the time of obtaining appearance, it is difficult to examine like the tip of a lamp. That is also the time when wisdom is stable, like the sun rising in the clear sky, self-awareness, the Dharmakaya, is clearly revealed. The awareness without object is the heart essence of self-origination. It is the certain wisdom that has been realized, and because of past habits, there is no change. For example, like a magnet attracting iron, because the self-luminous Dharmakaya has been recognized, all the qualities of the Buddha are complete. That is also the self-luminous wisdom, clear and distinct, and clearly revealed. Therefore, the self-originated wisdom body, thereafter, does not take a body in the bardo. It does not enter into objects, there is no attachment. It does not enter the womb, it cuts off birth and death. That is called a Buddha. That is also the essence of the assembly, listen. Like the reflection of stars in the ocean, at one time, in hundreds of thousands of billions, two kinds of form bodies arise for the benefit of beings. They teach the Dharma according to what is appropriate. One's own nature is the Dharmakaya, like the cloudless sky. The sign is to know the Dharmakaya of the Buddha. Its qualities cannot be fully expressed. From the Tantra of the Spontaneous Wheel of Bliss, the Essence of the Wonderful Meaning of the Great Perfection, the chapter on Showing the Time of Buddhahood, the twenty-fifth. Vajrasattva again requested: Unenlightened

Alas, wandering in samsara, where does its gate of falling fall? Please, all-knowing King, explain. Having heard these words, he bestowed teachings upon the assembled retinue: All tantras, teachings, and instructions, all dharmas, appear and are reversed, because of clinging to both exaggeration and defamation, doing so brings meaningless suffering. Now, listen again, Vajrasattva. Just as a bird's feather is carried by the wind, by entrusting the mind to the four uncertainties, without understanding, no matter how diligently one practices, one will not be liberated, and the five poisons will increase. Like a blind person wandering in a desolate plain, without understanding the true meaning, one meditates on bondage, wisdom is blind, habits are the mark, losing one's way, entering the wrong path. Like a bird with broken wings, because one does not know the unity of view and conduct, alternately taking and rejecting, judging with discrimination, without understanding, religious practices and actions will be confused. Now, listen again, Vajrasattva. With the allure of uncomprehended wealth, even if one recites scriptures, by praising oneself and denigrating others, one will surely fall into the gate of the lower realms. Obstructing the good thoughts and actions of others is the work of demons, and being miserly without understanding, one will fall into the gate of demons, wandering in samsara. Being jealous of the Dharma of others, even if one possesses many qualities, because one has not understood the essence of one's own mind, one will fall into the gate of yakshas, wandering in samsara. Not understanding equality, in one's own continuum, engaging in harsh actions such as anger, freely using the five poisons, committing offenses, one will fall into the gate of rakshasas, forever wandering. Without attaining self-mastery in samadhi, discriminating between retinue and categories, wanting to become great oneself, gathering a retinue, one will always contend in the world. Because one has not understood correctly, one makes those with wrong views one's teachers, not having realized oneself, one wants to liberate others, one will fall into the gate of Rudra, forever wandering. Even if one is skilled in the art of language, because one does not understand and clings to things, having strong attachment to one's own lineage or possessions, one will fall into the gate of ghosts and crows, wandering in samsara. Seeking a basis in the path of means, freely indulging one's desires, not being restrained by the correct view, clinging to pleasure, one will fall into the gate of the great gods, wandering in samsara. Because of not understanding and clinging to self, claiming this is the view and conduct of secret mantra, having no compassion for the lives of sentient beings, one will fall into the gate of eternalism and nihilism of the tirthikas, wandering in samsara. Now, listen again, essence of the assembly. Due to the power of not understanding
