Abiding in its own place. Thoughts without the moving stain dissolve in their own place. From the expanse of the essence's nature of equality, it arises. Not knowing the nature of equality is the stain of ignorance. Because of the stain, awareness does not take hold. Because awareness does not take hold, mental thoughts arise. Is it this or that, the appearance of names arises. Grasping at names, desire arises in the mind. In the aspect of searching, one experiences oneness. The characteristic of clarity arises in five aspects. Apart from clarity itself, there is no obstruction. The five appearances that are unmoving, unchanging, and unceasing. Not knowing the method of reversal, desire and attachment arise in the mind. Those are powerful light bodies with faces and eyes. Because of that, the six afflictions arise. The six realms of sentient beings appear as the fruit of delusion. Thus it is said. From the tantra of "The Manifestation of Preciousness." The first chapter is the basis of discussion and the appearance of delusion. Then, the bodhisattva Vajra asked the great secret lord, "How do things abide?" The manner and the distinction between Buddhas and sentient beings, and how to represent meaning through examples and symbols. The nature of the teacher, the great secret lord, explained the distinctions of abiding, symbols, and examples to the bodhisattva Vajra from within the retinue. The hanging treasury, the abiding of precious jewels. The edge of a razor and the thread of crystal are the function of sunlight. Sandalwood, musk, and garlic are strength. Monkeys and water ripples, stains are the manner of movement. Rope, mallet, and mirage are the basis. Snakes, water, and people are delusion. The sun, eyes, and gold are meaning. Clouds, mirrors, and darkness are obscurations. The wheel that symbolizes dawn. Casting a mantra on poison is the method of reversal. The treasure of a poor woman and the wealth of a giant are not known because they are within oneself. Milk, halos, and sesame seeds are symbols. The sky, crystal lamp, and sun are looking at the sky in a cave. Mix with ashes. Understand hot and cold with the sun and moon. Thus it is said. From "The Manifestation of Preciousness," the second chapter is the chapter of symbolizing with examples. Then, the gathering bodhisattva Vajra asked the teacher, the great secret lord, "Is there a difference in the method of realizing the meaning of abiding apart from delusion?" The teacher, the great secret lord, explained the meaning of the method of realization to the gathering bodhisattva Vajra. The essence of consciousness not becoming an object

I am myself. The meaning of seeing desire as being free from desire. The vast expanse without partiality or bias. Since awareness is without birth or death, it holds its own ground. It transcends expression because it is beyond the name of mind. The absence of attachment in the mind is the contentment of bliss. It is devoid of focus because it has not become an object of perception. The essence is manifestly clear, yet there is nothing to point to. A precious jewel that transcends words and speech. A great treasury for utilizing inexhaustible treasures. There is no desire for appearance or non-appearance. The self-arisen essence is the basis of all. The nature of the basis is a state of equality between existence and non-existence. From the state of equality arises the great treasury of all things. A precious jewel that arises inexhaustibly, fulfilling all desires. The basis for the unobstructed manifestation of abilities and limbs. It arises spontaneously, without being made by anyone. From movement and non-movement, the three minds sequentially change. The three minds are the basis for the confusion of afflictions. Clear and without attachment is the meaning of immovability. The essence of meaning is obscured by obscuration because it is not understood. By means of reversal, it is not clear, but awakened by darkness. Not knowing the means of reversal, one does not realize what one has within oneself. The meaning is expressed and realized through the three, hearing, contemplation, and meditation. The very nature of the unconditioned, pure essence. Desiring to realize the nature, one examines the movement of the mind. Through right and wrong, certainty arises within oneself. The essence of self-nature, this self-luminous appearance. Transcending the extremes of permanence and annihilation, it is liberated from existence and non-existence. Without the movement of mind, it is not made by intellect. The miraculous nature is the meaning of being free from delusion. Unborn awareness is immutably and spontaneously accomplished. It is not the object of experience for things and characteristics. In the unborn nature of the essence, birth is the manifestation of awareness as ability. It is made the basis and root of all phenomena. The meaning of the essence that is liberated from the extremes of confusion and delusion. Because it transcends the realm of characteristics, there is no object of focus. Delusion is pure, possessing the meaning of self-nature. The realized one roams in the realm of wisdom and equality. The meaning that is profound and difficult to fathom is, in fact, the great bliss of the self-liberation of afflictions. Being free from all desires is the supreme view. The cessation of the mind's movement is the meaning of meditation. Uncontrived and effortless is the adornment of conduct. The manifestation of meaning as it is, possesses the supreme meaning of experience. From the realm of the essence, wisdom arises as the Dharmakaya. Thus it is said. From the Jewel Illuminator. The Third Chapter, which explains the distinctions, is complete. The gathering Bodhisattva Vajra.
