Please explain the meaning of meditation! After this request, the Blessed One said: Because there are no edges, there is no center, and one should not consider the center to be superior. Not abiding in anything, if one places one's mind in this way, then meditate. Because the realm of Dharma has no edges or center, it cannot be expressed by name. The meaning that cannot be expressed is Suchness, meditate without self and other. If there is an object to be focused on, then there is no need to seek the Buddha from the beginning. The meaning of not needing to seek is one's own mind, meditate by abiding in this way. Not abandoning all the worldly sovereign goddesses in anything, abiding equally in this way. Meditate by abiding equally in this way, without separation from everything. This is the supreme path of all Buddhas, the supreme of the supreme. Meditate without grasping, attachment, or focus, not relying on anything. If one sees the Dharma as mistaken, then one should understand well that it is mistaken. The six teachings, the deeds of demons, are neither evil nor abandoned, nor contemplated. Therefore, the Victorious Ones see this Dharma nature, measure this meaning, and meditate. Holding onto anything, knowing what can be abandoned, this is the supreme of the path. Not born, not ceasing, not thinking about anything, if one knows everything, then meditate. Not thinking about anything, not focusing on anything, all things such as sovereignty are absent. The Victorious Ones and others are special, not acting in any other way than this meaning. Acting in this way, not being distracted from it, abiding in this way, meditate. Killing all sentient beings, burning all firewood, eating everything without defilement or stain, is the activity of the Victorious Ones. Demons and Rakshasas eat consciousness, acting in this way is not like that. Not abiding in anything, acting with attachment in the place of abode, abiding is a fault of meditation. That is, meditation is afflicted by the disease of attachment, arising sequentially in the desire realm. Not abiding even in the practice of wisdom and skillful means, therefore acting like a demon. Therefore, without attachment to anything, abiding in that, is the completion of meditation. With wisdom, not thinking of lotus, wheel, vajra, thinking without inequality. Beyond the object of thought, in the Dharma nature of non-appearance. The realm of non-attention and non-bestowal, meditate by abiding in this way. The wise one manifests meanings in the mind with wisdom, and establishes this meaning for the foolish. Making one's own awareness supreme, surpassing everything, being arrogant in this way. Generating attachment and hatred is ignorance, not seeing the meaning. The supreme of seeing is

Seeing without focusing on anything is seeing. The supreme conduct is to practice without any obstruction on the path of liberation, yet also practicing what cannot be practiced. Not establishing names for anything, and not abiding in abiding. The Madhyamaka without appearance, the Bodhicitta without a path, thus the Sugata declared. How all appearances are, they are perfected in the realm of non-appearance and are perfected. From the "Continuation of Cultivating Bodhicitta." The thirteenth chapter on practicing the definitive meaning in a pointing manner. Then, the secret lord Vajrapani, asked the Bhagavan thus: Bhagavan, what is valid cognition? When asked thus, the Bhagavan taught: The names of moving and unmoving do not abide, and there is no abiding in abiding. The valid cognition of all, the great river of Bodhi bliss, whatever is connected to valid cognition. Even adding the sin of killing is harmless, no matter how one practices, there is no fault, that which is not defiled by faults is valid cognition. The head of the affliction Tala tree is cut off, the seed is burned by fire, and no sprout arises, that is valid cognition. If one knows with wisdom that all appearances are confused thoughts, false confusion, that is valid cognition. Taking it to heart from that meaning, abiding thus as it is, that itself is cultivation, that is valid cognition. Thus, on top of wisdom, thoroughly understanding, seeing that meaning, one sees the valid cognition of the Buddha. How everything appears, how it abides, yet all comes from one's own mind. Not other, there is not even a speck to be found in it, knowing this is the most supreme of the supreme, that is valid cognition. Apart from valid cognition, there is nothing to focus on elsewhere, knowing this is the valid cognition of knowing. Completely abandoning attachment to form and characteristics, cultivating the three doors of liberation is the work of demons, form itself is emptiness. The emptiness of emptiness, yet emptiness cannot be established either. That itself is valid cognition, therefore this activity of valid cognition is established as a special valid cognition. Take this meaning to heart on top of valid cognition, the wise should abide thus in the most supreme place of meaning. From the "Continuation of Cultivating Bodhicitta." The fourteenth chapter on establishing the wisdom of the righteous on valid cognition. Then, before the Bhagavan, the secret lord Vajrapani asked: What causes the righteous to be formed? The Bhagavan taught: Abandoning the three spheres, even cultivating the path of Nirvana, yet it is seven. What is the object of cultivation, the place of abiding, the ground, and the meaning, on what does one focus?
