Alas! Alas! Possessing the Bhagavan with great compassion, I request you to explain the distinctions between the Dharmakāya, Saṃbhogakāya, and Nirmāṇakāya for us, the devoted retinue including the ḍākinīs. Thus it was requested. Then, the Bhagavan, the powerful lord, spoke thus: "O assembled ones, listen! I will extensively explain the limbs of skillful means, listen well! Although the kāyas are inconceivable, when gathered together, they are condensed into three. What are they? The Dharmakāya, which transcends the realm of signs; the Saṃbhogakāya, which transcends the realm of grasping; and the Nirmāṇakāya, which transcends the realm of arising. Furthermore, the Dharmakāya also has three: the Dharmakāya of the Dharmakāya, the Saṃbhogakāya of the Dharmakāya, and the Nirmāṇakāya of the Dharmakāya. Among these, the Dharmakāya of the Dharmakāya is the appearance of awareness as the object of dharma, the kāya is the unceasing essence of awareness. The Saṃbhogakāya of the Dharmakāya is the five lights. The Nirmāṇakāya of the Dharmakāya is the unceasing seeing of the eye faculty. The realm of the Dharmakāya is the completely pure sky. The place of the Dharmakāya is citta. The path of the Dharmakāya is a precious crystal tube. The Saṃbhogakāya also has three: the Dharmakāya of the Saṃbhogakāya, the Saṃbhogakāya of the Saṃbhogakāya, and the Nirmāṇakāya of the Saṃbhogakāya. Among these, the Dharmakāya of the Saṃbhogakāya is the unceasing appearance of the five wisdoms, remaining clear and distinct. The Saṃbhogakāya of the Saṃbhogakāya is the path with the five kinds of bindus. The Nirmāṇakāya of the Saṃbhogakāya is the arising of the five consciousnesses of the senses in the realm of objects. The place of the Saṃbhogakāya is the Avadhūti. The path of the Saṃbhogakāya is the small right channel. The Saṃbhogakāya appears as five appearances. The Nirmāṇakāya also has three: the Dharmakāya of the Nirmāṇakāya, the Saṃbhogakāya of the Nirmāṇakāya, and the Nirmāṇakāya of the Nirmāṇakāya. That is, the Dharmakāya of the Nirmāṇakāya is the two lamps. The Saṃbhogakāya of the Nirmāṇakāya is seeing the five kāyas. The Nirmāṇakāya of the Nirmāṇakāya is the appearance as the five afflictions. The place of the Nirmāṇakāya is the brain. The path of the Nirmāṇakāya is the eye. The realm of the Nirmāṇakāya is illusory appearance.

Likewise, it should be known that all bodies are of the nature of emptiness. It should be known that all emptiness is adorned with bodies and radiates greatly. Each of those bodies has countless bodies that are called part bodies. To put it briefly, it is like this: Mind itself is called the body of defilement, which gathers objects and directly grasps objects. Action is called the body of objects, which makes one not see one's own meaning. That is the part body of the emanation body. The part bodies of the enjoyment body are the body of form, the body of sound, the body of smell, the body of taste, and the body of touch. That is the emanation body of the enjoyment body. The emanation body of the Dharma body is the body of the eye, the body of the ear, the body of the nose, the body of the tongue, the body of the body, and the body of the mind. That is the emanation body of the Dharma body. Thus, having entered into the light of the body, one enjoys the rays of speech. The rays of speech, being completely pure, radiate in the ten directions. From each ray of speech, countless emanations also arise. Thus, from the Tantra of the Great Self-Arisen Awareness, the chapter that shows the distinctions of the three bodies, is the fourth chapter. Then, again, the Lord of Secrets spoke thus: Ee! Ee! Bhagavan, compassionate one! If the distinctions of the three bodies are like that, we who follow
