Holding and liberating. Likewise, the mandala of means is the wisdom body that liberates all, displaying the miraculous transformations that liberate beings. However, this mandala of means is not available to everyone. Some secret mantra practitioners who possess means truly practice its meaning. It is considered to be the intention of all secret mantras. The vajra body is free from all arising and ceasing, practicing without distraction on the true ground. Abiding immovably and equally in the great bliss ground. For the sake of the few individuals who possess means, they practice truly in their own ground. The Dharmakaya is unceasing, holding its own position. The Sambhogakaya is unborn, holding its own characteristics. The Nirmanakaya is immortal, liberating others. The wisdom path itself is the unchanging vajra lord. If one realizes the unborn nature of Dharma, that itself is the Buddha, there is no other. All phenomena are delusions of the mind, and the mind is what gathers all habits. Dharma is free from all habitual attachments. Believing that there is no Buddha in the mind, that person who sees their own view is said to be liberated ultimately without wavering. If one single-mindedly meditates on that very meaning, it is said that conceptual thoughts of characteristics are self-liberated. In the unborn vajra body, all of existence is clear. In the peaceful body of Dharmata, the intention is clear. In the non-conceptual equality body, non-conceptuality is clear. In the true bliss body, the five lights are clear. In the great bliss all-pervading body, the bindu is clear. In the body that binds all of existence, the view is clear. In the equality wisdom body, seeing is clear. In the body of awareness emptiness, the five lights are clear. In the body of expanding wisdom, wisdom is clear. In the unchanging vast body, the lamp is clear. Thus, the various aspects of the body should be understood as they are. Thus, from the Tantra of the Great Self-Arisen Awareness, the chapter on the equality of sun, moon, and warmth, the fifty-sixth chapter. Then, the Lord of Secrets again requested, saying: Great Teacher, please teach the supreme means to us, the assembly of faithful ones. Having requested thus, in an instant, the Teacher manifested many assemblies of emanations. Then, the assembly arose with great wonder, saying: Emaho! Please speak the essential instructions of means. Thus they requested. Then again, the command was given: I will explain the great meaning, listen well! Kya.

O friends, it is like this: self-arisen wisdom has no words, no letters, no ground and path, no mind, no heart, no ignorance, no four conditions, no sudden arising, no co-emergence, no latent tendencies, no appearances, no experiences. Therefore, it is called the view of being without limits and without partiality. That is to say, it is wisdom without limits, a view without partiality, the all-pervading nature of reality, unobstructed wisdom, self-liberation without grasping, self-radiance without concepts, wisdom without cessation, the five lights without attachment, the nature of reality liberated in its own place, spontaneously accomplished Buddha, awareness free from mind, Buddha free from breath, clear and non-conceptual meditation, conduct without attachment or clinging, a view without desire, the fruit of seeing reality itself, altruistic activity without effort, the great wisdom of self-purification. The intention of the Buddha explains the meaning of self-arisen wisdom. This is from the Great Perfection of Self-Arisen Wisdom Tantra, the fifty-seventh chapter, Equality with Space. Thereafter, the Lord of Secrets requested: With what analogy can the great intention of self-arisen wisdom be ascertained? Please, Teacher, instruct. Then, again, the Teacher declared: Listen, listen, assembly, sons of the lineage! The introduction to the analogies is as follows: The analogy of Buddha and sentient beings is like the relationship between a head and horns, arising from one to many. The analogy of awareness and ignorance is like the relationship between water and ripples, dependent on conditions. The analogy of mind and awareness is like the relationship between water and bubbles, not controlled by the mind. The analogy of wisdom and mind is like the relationship between gold and brass, the colors indistinguishable. The analogy of the alaya and the dharmakaya is like the relationship between the ocean and a boat, the source of the path. The analogy of pure and impure elements is like the analogy of falling asleep and waking up, because there is a difference in the senses. The analogy of illusory appearances and the bardo is like the relationship between darkness and light, because there is purity and impurity. The analogy of realization and non-realization is like the relationship between hail and touch, because there is a difference between appearances being overwhelmed and not being overwhelmed. The analogy of wisdom and habitual tendencies is like the relationship between fire and tinder.
