Therefore, there is no need to seek high heavens and wretched hells; that is the realm of children's imagination. The mind of Dharma-nature, which is without inherent existence, is from the very beginning Samantabhadra, just as purity and impurity are not separate. Happiness and suffering appear as mere conceptualizations. The self-mind is of the nature of change, and happiness and suffering are clearly sequential. Because the Dharma-nature of the mind is immutable, even if you seek happiness and suffering, you will not find them. If everything is your own mind, then suffering itself is the expanse of happiness. Because it is self-arisen wisdom, even hell itself is a Buddha-field. Because it is spontaneously accomplished in equality, there is no need to seek it in directions or categories. Unfabricated, from the very beginning, it is Samantabhadra; happiness and suffering are not separate. The nature of Bodhicitta is great bliss; because the cause itself is pure, the result is also great. Transcending words and wisdom, there is no need to seek; it is spontaneously accomplished, abiding in its own nature. From the Tantra of the Great Samantabhadra Abiding in Its Own Nature, the chapter on abiding in its own nature without seeking happiness and suffering, the twenty-seventh. Then again, the meaning of abiding in its own nature without good or bad, pure or impure, was taught. Like the swastika (स्वस्तिक,svastika, auspicious) in the darkness of ignorance, the sun of wisdom rises. In the nature of discrimination and non-discrimination, the light of Bodhicitta is clear, without good or bad. Just as in the nature of great nectar, poison and nectar are not separate. In the nature of Bodhicitta, there is not even the name of faults or virtues. There is no bad or good; all faults are virtues themselves. There is no impure or pure; poison itself is the nature of nectar. Holding the meaning of non-duality, it is pure from the very beginning. In the uncreated and effortless, seeking effort is extremely foolish. Unfabricated, from the very beginning, it is bindu (bindu, point); the Dharma of grasping existence in non-existence is like dividing the sky. Because the length of life is not determined by karma, do not strive in vain in yoga. Following empty words without meaning, not grasping the definite vehicle, mistaking the definite instructions for conceptualizations. Such meaningless actions only lead to wandering in bad states. Therefore, the unchanging Bodhicitta, whatever is practiced in this Great Perfection, is the very action of Samantabhadra, without good or pure, impure. The expanse of instructions that are meaningful, the mind not wandering is the profound meaning. The yogi who practices in this way will abide in the state of Buddhahood. From the Tantra of the Great Samantabhadra Abiding in Its Own Nature, abiding in its own nature without good or bad, pure or impure.

This is the twenty-eighth chapter. Then, without fabricating high and low, and large and small, this abiding in its natural state is specifically stated. The order of vehicles has high and low, The realization of wisdom has large and small, Like the movements of a dancer's hands, Whatever is shown, it is nothing. If the nature is not determined as one, Then body, speech, and mind will also appear separately. If awareness does not become one, Then bodhicitta will also be understood separately. If there is nothing other than suchness, Then no matter how dissimilar forms are shown, There is no equality in wisdom itself. Words and letters are beyond expression. The empty world, like the realm of space, However much there is, it is without end. Sesame seeds and horsehair split into ten, In the unborn realm, there is no large or small. The ground of all, unoriginated and unborn, From the beginning, it is completely pure. The greatness of the Buddha is uncreated, The smallness of sentient beings cannot be altered. Since all phenomena are enlightened in the mind, Whatever is desired will be fulfilled. Nirvana and the dharmas of samsara, Without large or small, they abide in their natural state. From the Tantra of the Great Samantabhadra's Abiding in Itself, the chapter on abiding in its natural state without high and low, large and small, is the twenty-ninth. Then, without seeking birth and death and change, but abiding in wisdom as it is, this is what is stated. For mind, phenomena, and space, Since there is no cause for their initial arising, Ultimately, they will not die or change. Likewise, there is no beginning or end. Past, future, and present time, What will ultimately change? Since the three times do not exist, There is no before or after, it is pure from the beginning. Moment, instant, and eon, The distinction of long and short, and the indication of numbers, Although they appear as delusions of conceptual thought, But the nature of phenomena does not change with time. Likewise, lifespan and so on, Although they are indicated by numbers without form, Like defeat, victory, and death in a dream, It is wrong to measure with numbers and length. Even if my eons are counted, There is no change from the very beginning. No matter how boundaries, center, and directions are shown, They do not diminish from the state of bindu. Although they appear as terrifying demons and enemies, The mind cannot be grasped and killed. Even if the appearing world becomes fire and water, Bodhicitta does not change. It is not non-existent, but clear in every way. Just being clear, there is no partiality. Transcending the words of existence and non-existence, The unchanging eternal abides therein. From the Great Samantabhadra's Abiding in Itself
