It does not show in words and letters, it does not cling to self, it does not cling to others, it shows the intention of non-clinging equality. All sentient beings in the three realms, if they realize this, are equal to all Buddhas. The essence is not moved by the thought of effort. That wisdom of the mind of enlightenment, showing as the body of water, does not show in words and letters, does not distinguish self, does not distinguish others, shows the intention of non-distinguishing equality. All sentient beings in the three realms, if they realize this, are equal to all Buddhas. The essence is not moved by the thought of effort. That wisdom of the mind of enlightenment, showing as the body of fire, does not cling to self, does not cling to others, shows the intention of the non-duality of grasper and grasped. All sentient beings in the three realms, if they realize this, are equal to all Buddhas. The essence is not moved by the thought of effort. That wisdom of the mind of enlightenment, showing as the body of wind, does not establish self, does not abandon others, shows the intention of the non-duality of rejection and establishment. All sentient beings in the three realms, if they realize this, are equal to all Buddhas. The essence is not moved by the thought of effort. That wisdom of the mind of enlightenment, showing as the body of space, does not establish good, does not abandon evil, shows the intention of no difference. All sentient beings in the three realms, if they realize this, are equal to all Buddhas. The essence is not moved by the thought of effort. Likewise, all that appears and exists, does not show in words and letters, each from its own door shows the undifferentiated Dharma. This is the way of explaining the self-nature. The way of explaining the combined words is, transmitted from ear to ear. These are the general ways of explaining. From the Tantra of the Union of Appearances and Existence, the Nectar Drop, Cutting the Beginning and End of Samsara, the second chapter is the chapter on the way of explaining the initiation. Then again, Vajrasattva asked Samantabhadra, the nature of mind: Buddhas and sentient beings have not appeared, how did it abide before that? Please speak to the assembled retinue. After asking thus, Samantabhadra, the nature of mind, from the palace of the heap of precious light, abided in the samadhi of no difference. Seeing the assembled retinue abiding, after arising, the teacher Samantabhadra, to the assembled retinue, spoke thus: Buddhas and sentient beings

Before there was nothing, Nothing existed, nothing was accomplished. It cannot be represented by any term, It is liberated from the limits of naming words. Since the beginning is inseparable from the ground, There are no names of Buddhas and sentient beings. There is no one who applies symbols and terms, There is no one who shows by example and meaning, There is no one who applies words and letters, There is no one who experiences both happiness and suffering, There is no one who applies both cause and effect, There is no one who distinguishes between self and other, When the two, Buddha and sentient being, are merely unestablished, It abides in the nature of being nothing, It abides in the nature of not appearing as anything, The symbol is transcendent, liberated from words. It is beyond the realm of thought, speech, and mind, It cannot be expressed in any way, it transcends the limits of names. Therefore, since it is inseparable from the ground, It is said to be free from all conceptual attachments, It is said to be beyond the limits of representation. Vajrasattva requested thus: Teacher, for the mind-essence Samantabhadra, How is the reality of the all-ground? After requesting thus, the Teacher spoke to the assembly: The treasury, the field, and the silk, the three, Should be known as examples of the ground. The ground-mother of Buddhas and sentient beings, Is not exhausted in samsara, Is not exhausted in nirvana, Is not exhausted in non-duality, Is not exhausted in difference. Has not experienced existence, nor has it experienced non-existence, Has not experienced emptiness, nor has it experienced clarity, Has not experienced happiness, nor has it experienced suffering, Has not experienced appearance, nor has it experienced emptiness, Has not experienced being, nor has it experienced non-being, Has not experienced loss, nor has it experienced gain, Has not experienced fullness, nor has it experienced emptiness, Has not experienced decrease, nor has it experienced exhaustion, Has not experienced desire, nor has it experienced effort, Has not experienced attachment, nor has it experienced clinging, Has not experienced bad, nor has it experienced abandonment, Has not experienced good, nor has it experienced accomplishment, Has not experienced meditation, nor has it experienced abiding, Has not experienced grasping, nor has it experienced holding, Has not experienced delusion, nor has it experienced obscuration, Has not experienced realization, nor has it experienced increase, There is no exhaustion in duality, Has not experienced being gathered into one. Not produced by cause, not destroyed by conditions, Since the essence does not change, the nature is not observable, Therefore, there is no exhaustion in either birth or death. There is no teaching with symbolic words, There is no Dharma, no teacher, no listener, Unspeakable, no words, no expression, No happiness, no suffering, no comfort, No good, no bad, neither exists, No center, no edge, no direction, no boundary, No Buddhahood, no enlightenment, no sentient beings.
