The Wise One (Yixi Jiabu) said: Teaching through the symbolism of the emanation body, Using the lamp of verbal symbolism, To dispel the darkness of ignorance, With the pith instructions possessing lineage, Teaching is called the ear-transmitted lineage. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the gathering. With the pith instructions of meaning symbolism, Wisdom awareness arises from within the heart, In that very instant, there is no birth or cessation, Realizing manifest enlightenment in this very moment. Spreading emanations through the symbolism of the body, The entire three thousand worlds without exception, Emanations are countless, pervading everywhere. The fifty-seven symbols, Accomplish the benefit of beings without defilement. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the gathering. In order to teach through the symbolism of signs, Body colors and hand gestures are various, Perfecting activities according to what is tamable, Obtaining the accomplishment of blessings and Buddhahood. From the Secret Heart Essence Tantra of the Great Perfection Wisdom Wheel, the sixth chapter on the teaching of words and symbols. Thereafter, Vajrasattva, in order to Manifestly realize wisdom, To the King of All-Knowing Dharma, With a truthful mind, made this request: The root of all dharmas, Are the three bases connected or not? From the darkness of the Alaya consciousness mind, How is the Dharmakaya recognized? Without separation from the present body, What obscures the non-arising of the Rupakaya? Please explain, King of Equality. Having heard the meaning of what was said, To the gathering of The assembly, he said: The root meaning of this, in brief, With the unmistaken certainty of the three bases, I will explain whether they are connected or not, Realize these three as one, whether they exist or not. The self-nature body of the basis of samsara and nirvana, The basis of samsara, consciousness, is unpredicted, Temporarily connected, ultimately not. Temporarily connected because, The three unpredicted ones, Are pervaded by the self-nature body. Now again, listen to the essence of the gathering. Ultimately not connected because, On the basis of consciousness, which is unpredicted, Because there is intentional obscuration, there is no faith, With blessings, realization, and lineage, Because there is no method of teaching, it is the cause of samsara, From this arises only samsara. Therefore, ultimately not connected. Darkness and the sun do not occur at the same time, Ignorance and wisdom are the same. Now again, listen to the essence of the gathering. The self-nature body of the basis of samsara and nirvana, The nirvana Samantabhadra basis and, Ultimately

There is no temporary connection; the ultimate connection exists. Once in the bardo of birth, death, and in-between, if one encounters prophecies and instructions, When one realizes with devotion and faith, the unprophesied are pure and empty. There is an ultimate connection of wisdom, like the sun rising at dawn. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the gathering. Nirvana, the basis of Kuntuzangpo, and The basis of samsara, the unprophesied, are two. Because they do not coexist and are contradictory, There is no temporary or ultimate connection, like the sun's disc without darkness. Therefore, wisdom is inherently transparent. Now, listen to the assembly of the gathering. The basis of delusion, the unprophesied, etc., I have explained during the time of discernment. I have not spoken during the time of reversal. Future yogis are like that. From the Secret Heart Essence Tantra of the Great Perfection Wisdom Wheel, the seventh chapter, which shows the existence or non-existence of the connection of the three bases, is complete. Then, the all-knowing teacher, from the darkness of the mind of the all-ground, Spoke of delusion and non-delusion, in order to distinguish the four aspects of delusion. The three connections and four qualities are without error, therefore, the Dharmakaya is one with the basis. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering. Because of distinguishing delusion and non-delusion, The good and bad habitual patterns accumulated from the very beginning, Because of the change of time and place, consciousness is not deluded, but objects are deluded. Because attachment increases, it becomes a habitual pattern, like remembering the color of a dead person. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering. The subsequent arising of afflictions, which become the cause of arising attachment and aversion, Also, the arising of joy and displeasure, etc., because they arise from sudden causes, Objects are not deluded, but consciousness is deluded, like mistaking a rope for a snake. Now, listen to the bodhisattvas of the assembly. To have attachment to abandoning and adopting what does not exist in the basis of appearance, Because both mind and object are deluded, to assume existence in what does not exist, Like contemplating a rabbit's horn. Now, listen to the essence of the assembly. Even the consciousness of ordinary beings, whatever action they do without delusion, Mind and object are not deluded, but there is no nature, because there are no prophecies and instructions. Not knowing the basis itself, there is ignorance, like the moon being white but still having darkness. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering. To summarize the root of these, The four pairs and seven aspects of delusion, because of not knowing the non-existence of appearance, By adding and clinging to fabrications, one deceives oneself.
