Please reveal the nature of the ground! Samantabhadra spoke: Listen, assembly gathered around me! Samantabhadra is my ground, The essence of all bodhicitta resides. The nature of bodhicitta Is the palace of the dharmadhatu. All Buddhas of the three times, And all sentient beings of the three realms, Are in that vast expanse of mind, There is nothing that does not abide. It is the place and ground of all, Abiding there without gathering or scattering. There is no need to purify or traverse it. If you purify and traverse it, It is to adorn your own mind, Adornment will not perfect your own mind. This is the general ground of all places, From the three bodies that arise from me, To the retinues who have transcended cause and effect, I have revealed three aspects of the ground and path: The ground of generation and the ground of enjoyment, And the ground of accomplishment, these three I have revealed. In the ground of generation, if you generate bodhicitta, The dharmadhatu, space, has no bodhicitta, Bestowing empowerment by directing virtue and vice onto the ground, By abandoning the outer realm of reality, it is not abandoned, Self-arisen wisdom is obstructed as if it were not obstructed. Self-arisen wisdom does not conceptualize objects, Yet it falsely claims that there are grasper and grasped. Therefore, bodhicitta has no birth. In the ground of enjoyment, by enjoying the ten bhumis, All phenomena that appear, Without exception, do not waver from bodhicitta, It is merely the appearance of the nature of space. In space, there is not a single atom of wavering, Likewise, bodhicitta has no wavering. In the ground of accomplishment, desiring to accomplish bodhi, Is the ground of all-illuminating light and lotus, Vajradhara and the arrangement of stupas, And the great assembly wheel Vajradhara, The sixfold distinction of cause and effect, Samantabhadra, Are also named as the ground for accomplishing bodhi. Because the nature of mind is free from cause and condition, Therefore, I have not revealed the fruit of accomplishment through practice. The doors of the nature of mind are like this: The sign of self-arisen wisdom being unobstructed, With the five senses being clear and unobstructed, Therefore, it is named the ground of all-illuminating light. Not conceptualizing objects, without attachment, Therefore, it is named the unattached lotus. For that bodhicitta without birth or death, I call it Vajradhara.

It is named. The self-nature Dharmata is immeasurable, and the self-born wisdom is arranged without thought and equally. It is called Dense Arrangement. That mandala of the nature of Bodhicitta, for all the Bodhi Dharmas that reside in oneself, is named the Great Assembly Ground of the Wheel of Letters. Because body, speech, and mind are without birth and without destruction, it is said to be the ground of Vajradhara. Bodhicitta has no cause and effect, for all the Dharmas that arise from the mind, because there is originally no good or bad to be taken or abandoned, therefore I say it is the ground without distinction. Then the Dharmadhatu of Bodhicitta, all Buddhas of the three times, all sentient beings of the three realms, arise from there and abide there, therefore the Dharmadhatu Bodhicitta is the Samantabhadra ground. It is named the ground for accomplishing Buddhahood, the self-nature of Bodhicitta is nothing else. Thus it was said. The ninth chapter of the Vajrasattva Great Sky Brahma Expanding Tantra, which teaches that there is no ground to be cultivated. Vajrasattva asked again: Homage to the Great Bliss Samantabhadra, please explain your Great Path. Samantabhadra said: Listen to the place where I gather. By holding without deterioration, it is separated from non-thought and equality. By diligently seeking activities, one performs accomplished Samadhi. Accomplished Samadhi is separated from non-thought and equality. By practicing on the ground, one performs abiding Samadhi. Proficient Samadhi is separated from non-thought and equality. By examining Dharmata, one performs clear Samadhi. Clear Samadhi is separated from non-thought and equality. With clear wisdom, one performs realized Samadhi. Clearly realized Samadhi is separated from equality. How clear is the Samadhi of desire, the bliss without desire cannot be achieved. By not practicing Samadhi and not accumulating habits, self-born wisdom is not changed by the power of karma. The essence of the self-born wisdom Dharmakaya, cannot be achieved by seeking, but is achieved by abiding in self-nature. Because it is pervasive, it is separated from all actions. The so-called meaning is merely a nominal designation. Calling it the name of Buddha is not a definite scripture, but a guiding scripture. Thus it was said. The chapter of the Vajrasattva Great Sky Brahma Expanding Tantra, in which there is no path to tread.
