Specifically, the method of settling the mind is as follows: Example, meaning, sign, and meditative experience; the method of settling, the method of arising, the method of counteracting—these eight aspects should be understood. Qualities are explained in three ways. The example that illustrates it is like this: Just as a Brahmin bathes with pure water, wielding power over all kingdoms, all sentient beings born from the womb possess the innate nature of non-dual Bodhi. To realize that meaning, one must steadily abide on the object of focus, and non-focus is the excellent arising. By habituating to non-focus, one accomplishes the very nature of non-focus. To grasp what has not been grasped, contemplate the four appearances. To stabilize what has been grasped, one must habituate. Without grasping, self-luminous, not clinging to anything, leave the naked awareness bare. By repeating stability and enhancement, the purity of one's own mind is the Dharmakaya. Self-arisen wisdom transcends all boundaries. Shamatha and Vipassana are combined in union. Awareness is not harmed by objects, like the movement of mercury. The signs are the three aspects of body, speech, and mind. The body trembles and twitches, performing actions such as jumping and running. Speech is wild and weeping, uttering various sounds from the mouth. The mind is difficult to let go of non-grasping, and inner and outer awareness do not change, like inserting a finger into a glue bowl. One must habituate to meditation, lineage, vessel, and their very nature. The experience cannot be named, awareness arises purely from within, producing sounds of Dharma never heard before. If that meaning does not cling to the object of non-thought, without separating from the non-grasping mind, whatever of the four actions one performs, because it is seized by the essence of the mind, this is the supreme method of settling, its intention is the same as the mind of the Buddha. To cause that meaning to arise in the continuum, there is no calculation or grasping of concepts, like a bird entering its nest. One must carry it on the path without distraction, like taming a wild, unruly horse. One must settle without distraction. If the mind becomes distracted from that, like clouds in the sky, even if they arise, they do not harm the base; conceptual thoughts do not diminish, and there is no need to modify them. Clear and non-conceptual, how wondrous! Like the depths of an unmoving ocean. This awareness of Bodhicitta, the naturally abiding is the Dharmakaya. Following before and after is a mistaken path, awareness does not change and cannot be washed away. When awareness becomes dull, pacify it with the method of gathering and scattering.

Become. When knowledge becomes coarse, the flow slowly pursues, and when put in from behind, it returns to its original place. For example, just as a thief is noticed, without being driven away, it naturally calms down. In the self-nature of the mind, in the Dharma nature, the self-nature is clear and naturally abides. Such is the experience of yoga of realization, like a cottonwood body arising, the breath does not feel the flow in and out, the experience of the Dharma nature, bliss, clarity, and greatness, the way of manifesting qualities is like this. Without beginning or middle, it is like the sky. Without destruction or separation, it is like a vajra. Without attachment or clinging, it is like a bee. It is the nature of self-born wisdom. From the Tantra of the Precious Garland of the Lamp of Secret Wisdom, the fourth chapter, which teaches the method of settling the mind. Then again, Vajrasattva asked: Alas! Lord of Secrets! Without flaws and with perfect qualities, in order to distinguish between demons and Dharma, please explain the identification of demons. The Lord of Secrets said: Alas! Great Bodhisattva, listen! In the distinction between demons and Dharma, eighteen aspects are explained here. Form abides as the demon of the aggregates. Sons and others transform into the demon of the gods. Grasping onto that is the demon of afflictions. The confused mind is the demon of the Lord of Death. Needed wealth is also a demon. Yaksha gods are also the same. The demon of the view of emptiness and annihilation. The demon of practicing in a daze and without benefit. The demon of acting without thought and arbitrarily. The demon of endless desire for results. The demon of subtle contentment and hearing. The demon of wind, which disturbs the channels and energies. The demon of the Dharma of perverted tenets. The demon of vows and precepts that cannot be overcome. The demon of distraction from busyness and enjoyment. The demon of friends who are connected to bad karma. If doubt arises, it is the demon of experience. The demon of wisdom not grasped by skillful means. Obstacles and hindrances are known by the mind. Eliminating the obstacles of demons is beneficial to experience. From the Tantra of the Precious Garland of the Lamp of Secret Wisdom, the fifth chapter, which teaches the identification of demons. Then again, Vajrasattva asked: Alas! Lord of Secrets! In order to eliminate the fear of demons, please show the fearless refuge. Vajradhara said: Alas! Great Bodhisattva, listen! Not realizing one's own mind, it appears as a demon. Recognizing existence is refuge, confirming the symbol, recognizing
