The key point is one. The way to rely on the lama is devotion, not formality. The way to practice the lama is devotion, not supplication. If there is devotion, blessings will enter no matter what you do. If there is no devotion, there is no benefit no matter what you do. The three vows and the three vehicles, the names are different, the meaning is the same. Abandon conceptual thoughts and tame your own mind. The names are different, the meaning is the same. Therefore, everything is contained in one. Tame your own mind with the lama's instructions. Here, a hundred rivers flow under one bridge. One contains six, and also contains nine. What is called "tantra" is conceptual thought. A "tantra" without conceptual thought cannot be found. Taming conceptual thought is the door to the Dharma. Eighty-four thousand teachings are contained within this. In this way, appearances in samsara are also, merely imputed by conceptual thought. In this way, nirvana is also, merely imputed by conceptual thought. Likewise, good and evil are conceptual thoughts, the path and non-path are conceptual thoughts. Self and non-self are merely conceptual thoughts. Views and philosophical tenets are all conceptual thoughts. Therefore, taming conceptual thought, this is the key to everything from beginning to end. It has been taught before, and will be taught again, because it is of great significance, it is repeated and explained. How to tame conceptual thought? First, distinguish and tame conceptual thought. Second, observe and tame conceptual thought. Finally, let go and tame conceptual thought. First, distinguish the black and white of conceptual thought. Increase the white and eliminate the black. Faith, bodhicitta, and wisdom are white. Attachment, hatred, and ignorance are black. The three white ones are the side of liberation, one aspect is good, both temporary and long-term are good. The three black ones are the side of sin, one aspect is evil, both temporary and long-term are evil. Faith gathers all roots of virtue, bodhicitta is the basis of all the Great Vehicle, wisdom is the root of all paths to liberation. Therefore, these three should be cultivated. Attachment holds onto all of existence, hatred generates all suffering, ignorance is the basis of attachment, hatred, and their results. Therefore, these three should be abandoned. Believing in the true Dharma is faith, wanting to become a Buddha for the benefit of others is bodhicitta, realizing that all phenomena are without inherent existence is supreme wisdom. These three purify the three poisons and eliminate the two obscurations. Second, observe and tame conceptual thought. Do not let it wander, hold it with mindfulness. Do not let it sink down, protect it with awareness. Once it is recognized, observe its own nature. Merely observing it is emptiness. There is no need to analyze it.

All phenomena are empty of inherent existence, the nature of emptiness is self-luminous. If you understand the emptiness of the mind, you understand the emptiness of all phenomena. There is no need to analyze various objects. If the root is cut, the branches wither. Since this mind is the basis of all phenomena, the emptiness of the mind is the emptiness of all phenomena. This is self-empty as soon as you look at it, there is no time for much analysis. In the end, you will see the face of your own mind. It is inexpressible and unthinkable. There is no support and no tether. That is called luminosity. If you understand the meaning of this is not that, you will experience non-attachment. Who knows whether you understand or not? Where do you look for the one who understands and the object to be understood? At that time, there is no need to abandon conceptual thoughts. There is no need to be clever, no need to transform. Do not make it a path, do not liberate from it. If you leave it in its own place, it will be liberated in its own place. When it appears, it is empty, and when it is empty, it appears. Appearance and emptiness are inseparable, self-luminous. The compassion of clarity is uninterrupted. Grasping and clinging are self-liberated wisdom, and the nature of the stainless mind is luminosity. The non-duality of grasping and clinging is the Dharma nature Bodhicitta. Seeing the truth of innate great bliss is the real result of relying on the path of the guru with devotion. Of all the methods of taming the mind, the root is mindfulness alone. First, familiarize yourself with it, then stabilize it, and finally reach the state of non-mindfulness luminosity. By mindfulness alone, all sins can be abandoned. By mindfulness alone, all virtues can be accumulated. By mindfulness alone, one's own mind can be tamed. Mindfulness is the root of all Dharmas. Rely on mindfulness in the midst of many. Rely on mindfulness even when alone. Rely on mindfulness at all times. Rely on mindfulness without distraction for a moment. Entrust the reins of devotion to the hands of the guru. Plant the unwavering foundation of mindfulness on the ground. Taming one's own mind with various skillful means, this supreme person will go by riding the Great Vehicle. Detailed analysis is scripture, concise summary is pith instruction. All scriptures and pith instructions are gathered together, and saying this is the kindness of the guru. Whatever merit there is in saying this, may it be integrated with the mindstream of the prompter, and may we never be separated until we attain the state of omniscience. This was written by the great scholar of Mdo-smad (Amdo region of Tibet), named Shubhamshri, in the palace of Jampel Yang (འཇམ་པའི་དབྱངས།, Mañjuśrī) of the stiff bone teeth. Completed! Dharma and
