Therefore, one should rely on (the Guru). A companion who helps to practice this path properly should also be someone who is compatible with the Guru. He should have faith in karma and its results, be conscientious and have integrity, be without jealousy, attachment, or hatred, have a strong altruistic mind, and share the same pure Dharma, Dharma protectors, and path as the aforementioned Guru. For the complete path that has not yet been attained, is being attained, has been stabilized, and is being increased, one should pray to the Guru and Yidam (Deity) as inseparable, accumulate merit, purify obscurations, study the great treatises, and combine these three. To clearly visualize the field of merit, on one's own crown, on a precious throne, visualize the essence as the root Guru, in the form of Je Tsongkhapa. From his body, speech, and mind, rays of light emanate, inviting the Buddhas of the ten directions and their retinues, and offering a Mandala. Pray with strong faith, and strongly pray to obtain the complete body of the path, fully receive the four empowerments, and visualize the Guru Yidam promising to fulfill the desired fruits, and finally reside in the center of the bindu (Tibetan: ཐིག་ལེ, Sanskrit Devanagari: बिन्दु, Sanskrit Romanization: bindu, Chinese literal meaning: drop) Gau (Tibetan: གའུ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गौ, Sanskrit Romanization: gau, Chinese literal meaning: Gau) box combination in one's heart. To purify obscurations, one should also perform confession and prostrations, recite the Vajrasattva mantra (Tibetan: ཡི་གེ་བརྒྱ་པ, Sanskrit Devanagari: शत अक्षर, Sanskrit Romanization: śata akṣara, Chinese literal meaning: hundred syllables), perform the recitation of the Samaya Vajra (Tibetan: དམ་ཚིག་རྡོ་རྗེ, Sanskrit Devanagari: समयावज्र, Sanskrit Romanization: samayavajra, Chinese literal meaning: vow vajra), perform the fire puja of the Dakini (Tibetan: ཟ་བྱེད, Sanskrit Devanagari: भक्षक, Sanskrit Romanization: bhakṣaka, Chinese literal meaning: eater) offering, and so on. In short, it is crucial to purify through the four opponent powers. That is, when one sees the unpleasant ripening of the fruits of sin, one regrets past actions, and one firmly resolves not to commit the same mistakes again even if it costs one's life. This is the supreme method for purifying sins. When studying the great treatises, whether they are Tantric or Sutric, one should carefully examine the direct and indirect meanings of the treatise, as well as the main subject to be explained, the intended disciples, and the methods of explanation. In short, from relying on a spiritual friend to realizing the state of the three bodies (Trikāya), one should tame one's mind through the common path; through the gradual guidance of the three levels of beings, and entering the uncommon Tantra, obtaining pure empowerments, properly guarding the promised vows and precepts, generating the two stages (Utpattikrama and Sampannakrama) in the mindstream, etc., one should generate experience and understanding of the number, order, and individual essence of each. Merely giving explanations and meditating is also part of the practice of the complete path. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because this is a time of being afflicted by illness, the choice of location and the way of performing virtuous deeds are completely different from other situations. Therefore, (someone) requested the venerable one (Tsongkhapa) to fully transmit the way of performing virtuous deeds through experience, and the essential points of practice that yield great benefit in this short life. Having received such an earnest letter, I (Tsongkhapa) offered countless outer, inner, and secret offerings to the venerable Jamyang (Manjushri), and continuously made strong prayers. As a result, in order to attain the state of Vajradhara in one lifetime, I gathered together all the essential points of the path without omission, and practiced in this way. I recorded the master's teachings and presented them, please do not show them to others. I hope to be able to ask about each of these points in detail when we meet. As an offering for the letter, I offer five cans of yellow tea, may auspiciousness increase! This is the way that the venerable Tsongkhapa presented to the master Redawa, through praying to the venerable Jamyang (Manjushri), gathering together all the essential points of practice and putting them into practice. May all be auspicious) Table of Contents: This is the teaching of the venerable Jamyang (Manjushri), recorded by the venerable Tsongkhapa and presented to the master Redawa, a unique instruction. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
