Collection of Teachings by Master Tsongkhapa JTs64: 'The Sadhana of Venerable Manjuvajra: Clarifying the Intent of Manjushri' 8-5-1a ༄༅། །The Sadhana of Venerable Manjuvajra: Clarifying the Intent of Manjushri. The Sadhana of Venerable Manjuvajra: Clarifying the Intent of Manjushri. Titled 'The Sadhana of Glorious Guhyasamaja Manjuvajra: Clarifying the Intent of Manjushri'. I prostrate with reverence to the venerable Manjushri, the essence of the supreme Guru. The treasury of wisdom of all Buddhas, Manjushri and his son, Jñānapāda and his son, and at the feet of Dīpaṃkara. I shall now explain this path, the essence of the glorious Guhyasamaja, which Manjuvajra directly spoke to Jñānapāda. Here, according to the oral instructions of Manjushri: 'The order of this practice, first the sadhana and homa, bali and various mandalas, summaries and explanations, mandala rituals, etc., should be composed as a staff for sentient beings obscured by ignorance.' Therefore, based on the permission given by the venerable one to compose the sadhana, and relying on the sadhana composed by the Acharya called Kuntuzangpo and the commentary on the meaning of the sadhana composed by Marmemdze Zangpo, I shall explain. Here, the practitioner should generate the mind of enlightenment, train in the six pāramitās, have great faith in the profound mantra teachings, and having properly received empowerment and subsequent permission in the mandala of Manjuvajra, and properly maintaining the vows and commitments, in a secluded place such as a mountain adorned with abundant water and trees, in a dwelling anointed with fragrant scents such as sandalwood, and with fragrant flowers scattered on the ground, sit on a comfortable seat and practice the venerable Manjushri. Then, visualizing oneself clearly as Manjushri, at the heart, on a lunar disc, visualize a red-yellow Maṃ (藏文:མཾ,梵文:maṃ,梵文罗马拟音:mam,汉语字面意思:芒) syllable, the essence of the three liberations, emitting five kinds of rays. Therein, Ma (藏文:མ,梵文:ma,梵文罗马拟音:ma,汉语字面意思:芒) is emptiness, its life-force A (藏文:ཨ,梵文:a,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿) is signlessness, and bindu (藏文:ཐིག་ལེ,梵文:bindu,梵文罗马拟音:bindu,汉语字面意思:宾度) is wishlessness, which is the meaning of the very nature of the letter. The rays of the Maṃ (藏文:མཾ,梵文:maṃ,梵文罗马拟音:mam,汉语字面意思:芒) syllable illuminate the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the three times and the ten directions, visualizing them as being present in front, generate conviction. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Visualize offering to the Form Vajra Mother (Sanskrit: Rūpa-vajra, the Buddha Mother symbolizing vision) and the Flower Mother (Sanskrit: Puṣpa, the Buddha Mother symbolizing generosity), etc., arising from the seed syllable (Tibetan: ས་བོན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: बीज, Sanskrit Romanization: bīja, Chinese literal meaning: seed) in the heart of the deity, and recite: Om Sarva Tathāgata Rūpa Pūja Megha Samudra Spharaṇa Samaya Śrīye Āḥ Hūṃ. Offer form in this way. Similarly, in place of form, offer sound with Śabda, offer smell with Gandha, offer taste with Rasa, and offer touch with Sparśa, thereby offering the five desirable qualities. Offer flowers with Puṣpe, offer incense with Dhūpe, offer light with Āloke, offer fragrance with Gandhe, offer food with Naivedye, and offer music with Śabda, thereby presenting the offerings. Then: In the stream of beginningless existence, The impurities accumulated by all thoughts. Before the Great Compassionate One, I confess all these as prescribed. The Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and noble ones, Whatever virtues they have performed. I rejoice in all of them, And dedicate them to perfect enlightenment. Accomplished with a mind like a stainless moon, With the means of boundless, supreme compassion. Dwelling in my own mind, I always take refuge in the Sugatas. Definitely liberated from all thoughts, The basis of the excellence of the noble beings. The essence of all things being of one taste, I always take refuge in the sacred Dharma. Freed from all bonds, Endowed with the glory created by supreme compassion. Abiding on the grounds of great joy and so on, I take refuge in the assembly of the powerful ascetics. With thoughts and maturation purified, The imprints of all obscurations are completely removed. Especially adorned with devotion, I generate the sacred mind of enlightenment. The sole path of the Sugatas and their children, The qualities of the ten white virtues, such as generosity. Perfect Buddha, I now abide in reality, With a mind that is the essence of all. Thus, viewing the three circles as a dream, confess sins, rejoice in the virtues of the five types of individuals, dedicate merit, take refuge in the Three Jewels, generate the supreme mind of enlightenment, and remember and recite the meaning of relying on the deity of the path, accumulating merit for the sake of accomplishing favorable conditions. It is like relying on a good place, obtaining a good body, and accumulating a basis for good deeds. Then, with great compassion, look upon all sentient beings bound by the net of wrong views, thinking: Alas! These sentient beings are inherently in a state of Nirvana... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
