Regarding high seats: There are two situations. The first is, if for unnecessary self-indulgence, one sits or lies on a high-value bed adorned with gold, silver, etc., whether high or low, that is more than one cubit (khru gang). Similarly, if one sits or lies on a similar cushion. The second is, if for unnecessary self-indulgence, one sits or lies on any wooden bed that is more than one cubit. Or, if for unnecessary self-indulgence, one sits or lies on any cushion that is more than one cubit. Regarding 'afternoon food': If one thinks or doubts that the sun has passed noon in the continent where one resides, until the first moment of the first dawn of the next morning, and yet out of greed enjoys timely foods such as mangoes, plums, etc., without special reasons such as illness, then each mouthful constitutes an offense. If one thinks or doubts that it is timely and enjoys it, the same will occur. If one thinks it is timely and enjoys it, or thinks it is untimely and enjoys it, there is no fault. These are the four situations that constitute an offense and the two situations that do not. These six situations of cognition, apart from non-celibacy, should also be applied analogously to the transgressions caused by the main cognition. Regarding 'taking gold and silver': If one does not have the thought that gold, silver, etc., which one can control, should not be accepted, but takes possession of it with the idea of treasure, it constitutes an offense. Regarding 'three types of degeneration': The first is, if one does not cut the edges and patches of the clothes, or unnecessarily wears and carries white clothes, etc., which are the characteristic signs of a householder, one loses the vow of abandoning the signs of a householder. If one becomes a monk, it is allowed to keep two finger-widths of hair and beard; if one lives near a village, it is allowed to keep half a finger-width of hair and beard. If one exceeds this limit, one must confess as many times as there are excess finger-widths. The second is, if one does not have the signs of an ordained person, such as the monastic robe and lower garment, one should make them; if one is able to make them but does not make them or wear them, or if one accepts a naked deity, or wears clothes made of hair, owl feathers, etc., which are the characteristic signs of non-Buddhist, if one wears and carries them for unnecessary purposes, one loses the vow of taking the signs of an ordained person. The third is disrespect towards the Khenpo ( མཁན་པོ།, Sanskrit: Upadhyaya, Romanized Sanskrit: Upadhyaya, Preceptor). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
