Confession of the Earth Owners. Confession of the Earth Owners. ༄༅། །Herein lies the so-called "Confession of the Earth Owners." Inviting the Earth Owners: Homage to the Three Jewels! The basis of the eight aspects of heaven and earth is as follows: We invite the Earth Owners, Nagas, and Nyen of the five central directions. Belonging to the Dharma assembly of the Tathagatas of the three times: We invite the Earth Owner of the east, the White Tiger; We invite the Earth Owner of the south, the Blue Turquoise Dragon; We invite the Earth Owner of the west, the Red Bird; We invite the Earth Owner of the north, the Black Turtle; We invite the Earth Owner of the center, the Yellow Golden Monkey; We invite the Earth Owner of the upper direction, Gyi Ling Pharmar; We invite the Earth Owner of the lower direction, Tsang Kun Chye Wo; We invite the Great Earth Owner Te Se Chenpo; We invite the Great Hand that Holds the Earth; We invite the Earth Child; We invite the Gods, Nagas, and Nyen who dwell in places as small as a wooden or iron elm; We invite all the Earth Owners. When plowing fields and planting crops, we also invite the Gods, Nagas, Nyen, and all the Earth Owners. When making war and conflict, we also invite the Earth Owners. We invite the Earth Owners, Gods, Nagas, Nyen, etc., who dwell in the four directions, eight intermediate directions, and the ten directions above and below. We invite the Earth Owners, Nagas, and Nyen, along with their retinues, who dwell in the snowy land of Tibet, who dwell in the three regions of Upper Ngari, who dwell in the four Rus of Central U-Tsang, and who dwell in the six Gangs of Lower Do-Kham. Having invited them in this way, we offer the five kinds: Arura, Barura, Kyura, and all desirable enjoyments. May the Earth Owners and Nagas enjoy and be pleased. Whether the wealth is small, the offerings are poor, stinginess is lost, leftovers remain, or anything is contrary to your mind, we confess everything. Furthermore, have we set fire to sacred mountains? Have we rolled stones down the heads of sacred mountains? Have we poured poison into sacred lakes? Have we dug into sacred lands? Have we cut down sacred trees with axes? Have we turned away sacred stones with wedges? We confess all these offenses against the Earth Owners and Nagas. Furthermore, we confess all defilements such as hearth filth, disputes, the power of the living, the stench of corpses, and all impurities. The aspiration prayer is: If I am strong in the upper reaches, may the people in the lower reaches also be strong. If I am rich in the upper reaches, may the people in the lower reaches also be rich. On the twenty-first day of the last month of spring, Dredging canals, digging ponds, and pouring out sewage, Removing creatures from the water, Offering to the Nagas and performing substitute Torma rituals, I confess. On the eighth day of the first month of summer, Pouring into fire offerings and performing burnt offerings, Performing pacifying and increasing rituals, igniting flames, Involving Dharma, wine stoves, and fire stoves, Engaging in fire-related industries, I confess. On the sixteenth day of the middle month of summer, Trading in armor and ironware, Trading jade from the north, Trading horses from the west, Trading gold from the south, Seeking benefits in the east, I confess. On the twenty-fourth day of the last month of summer, Writing letters of gold and silver, Riding horses in the north, Engaging in the precious gem industry, I openly confess. On the ninth day of the first month of autumn, Commanding troops and participating in war, Contesting land, houses, and fields, Speaking evil words and gossiping, I confess. On the fourteenth day of the middle month of autumn, Whitewashing temples and stupas, Performing Bon Torma rituals and reciting loudly, Guarding the pillows of spirits and the sick, I confess. On the twenty-seventh day of the last month of autumn, Tents and houses are broken, Eating, covering, and repairing, I confess. On the tenth day of the first month of winter, Feasting officials and lamas, The king ascends the throne, Sentencing and taking lives, Rejoicing and playing, Singing, dancing, and playing games, Laying out cushions and singing joyful songs, I openly confess. On the twentieth day of the middle month of winter, Sending children and wealth elsewhere, Cutting off great rivers and crossing bridges, Committing adultery with women, I openly confess. On the thirtieth day of the last month of winter, Rejoicing and playing, Singing, dancing, and engaging in intimate behavior, I confess. Seven lives, fourteen lives.
