Make sure that generating Bodhicitta becomes the key. Then, the actual, ultimate, non-referential state is: Generate unwavering faith and devotion towards the Great Orgyen, and pray repeatedly from the depths of your heart. Moreover, the increase, whether large or small, of the qualities of the path in one's own mindstream depends entirely on one's own faith. Faith is: firstly, knowing the common and uncommon qualities of the objects of refuge; secondly, remembering their great kindness to oneself; thirdly, wishing to be liberated from the suffering of samsara; and fourthly, knowing that the means of liberation is solely the compassion and activity of the lama, and nothing else. Having prayed with such strong faith gained through knowledge, the Great Orgyen, pleased, dissolves into light and merges into oneself. Thinking that the lama's mind and one's own mind have become inseparable, one must then rest in equanimity. If one prays haphazardly and does not blend the lama's mind with one's own, it is of no benefit to beginners, like placing a stone on the ground. If one prays with sincere devotion, the sign of the lama's blessing entering is: at the moment of meditative equipoise, the three states of dullness, sinking, and torpor, and the three states of excitement, wildness, and scattering, will clear away like the mist clearing from the top of a great mountain. From now on, it must clear away, and there must be a state where illusions and thoughts no longer arise. If it is not like that, but like a great mountain covered in mist, dim and hazy, then it is a clear sign that one has not sown the seeds of good faith. Because all the sutras and tantras say that faith can clear away all the illusions and thoughts of impurity or disbelief in the mind, one must be very careful about this devotion. As Paltrul Rinpoche said: "The way to rely on the lama is faith, not formality; the way to practice the lama is faith, not prayer." Just like that. How to rest in equanimity? If one has experience with the instructions of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, then while resting, there must be clarity in the abiding, relaxation in the clarity, liberation in the movement, and no object of focus in the awareness. Starting with the self-liberation of movement, then rest. If it is not like that, as Paltrul Rinpoche said: "When high, it seems clear, but there is no clarity; it seems like focused awareness, but it is like a spear stuck in the ground; let go of the pegs that fixate on mind and view." If it is like that, then it is meditation of mind and conceptual thought, not the path of the noble lineage of practitioners. Without instructions

Even so, with the devotion of blending the Guru's mind and one's own mind as inseparable, do not deliberately block any arising thoughts. Do not follow them, but naturally relax and abide. If one becomes accustomed to this, then the basis for generating correct Shamatha-Vipassana in one's being is the correct key instruction. Regarding this, whether there is a key instruction or not, it is very important not to fall into a state of unawareness when blending the mind and abiding. If one falls into confusion and distraction, then rise from that abiding and shift attention to engaging in virtuous and abandoning non-virtuous actions, and so on. It is not permissible to pretend to meditate while being distracted. By meditating for short periods with many repetitions, one will gradually understand the key points. It is certainly better to be able to abide for a long time, but this does not mean that prolonged practice necessarily leads to stability, as it is easy to be interrupted by dullness and agitation. When one is about to fall into such a state of unawareness, rise from that abiding, and in the post-meditation period, with each exhalation, visualize all the merit accumulated by oneself in the three times, its fruits, faith, compassion, renunciation, the three studies of hearing, contemplation, and meditation, the qualities of the three vows, and all the pleasing happiness and goodness of worldly aspects such as longevity, beauty, wealth, fame, and so on, transforming into white light and bestowing it upon all sentient beings, led by the two primary enemies and obstructors from one's beginningless lifetimes. This is not like dividing one portion among everyone, but rather visualize each sentient being fully receiving a share of happiness and goodness, so that all mother sentient beings are endowed with happiness and its causes. When inhaling, visualize all the sins in the continuum of all sentient beings, the ten non-virtues, the five heinous crimes, and so on, as well as the violations and breakages of the three vows of the Hearers, Bodhisattvas, and Secret Mantra practitioners, abandoning the Dharma, breaking vows, and so on, and all the sufferings of the three lower realms, transforming into black light and entering from one's two nostrils, dissolving into the essence of the black Thigle (seed syllable) in the heart, which from beginningless time has grasped at selflessness as self, and at non-self as self. Then visualize that Thigle shattering in an unbearable manner, dissolving into the realm of the unconditioned primordial purity, thus becoming baseless and rootless, and then abide again.
