The first also has two aspects: the meaning of the title and the homage. The first is indicated by \"Vajra Verses on the Nature of Reality.\" Here, all dharmas are emptiness by nature, free from the three—arising, ceasing, and abiding. Their essence is primordially pure, like the sky. That which is unconditioned, not produced by causes, is the profound secret of the speech of the Teacher, the Sugata. In sutras such as the Sutra on the Tathagatagarbha, the element, the Sugatagarbha, is extensively explained. As it says in the Samadhiraja Sutra: \"Pure, clear, and luminous, undisturbed, and unconditioned, is the essence of the Sugata, the dharmata that has always been.\" The essence of the Sugatagarbha is primordially pure, and since this adventitious impurity has not entered the original nature, it is a dharmata that is clear, bright, and free from turbidity. It is not like utter emptiness, so it is luminous by nature. It does not fall to any side, such as existence or non-existence, and is free from the extremes of elaboration, so it is undisturbed. It is unconditioned because it is not defiled by conditions. This is explained as the nature of the three doors of liberation in the sutras of the intermediate turning of the wheel of dharma. The Brahma asked Sutra says: \"All dharmas are of the nature of emptiness, free from objects. All dharmas are of the nature of signlessness, free from conceptualization. All dharmas are of the nature of wishlessness, without acceptance or rejection.\" Here, in the unique tantric sections of the tantras, the primordial ground or the fundamental awareness of the Dharmakaya is taught. The Precious Treasury of Tenets says: \"The primordial ground, the self-arisen wisdom, is vast, boundless, and impartial. Its essence is emptiness, like the sky; its nature is clarity, like the sun and moon; its compassion is all-pervasive, like rays of light. These three are inseparable in essence, and are primordially the nature of the wisdom of the three kayas." } ] ============================================================

And it is shown accordingly. If one understands the way to ascertain the names of such self-arisen wisdom, it becomes the basis for transcending suffering. If one does not understand, from the perspective of the arising of samsara, it is the expanse (dbyings); since it is primordially uncompounded, it is the spontaneously perfect Buddha; since it fully possesses all the qualities of the Buddha, it is the essence of the Sugata; from the perspective of obscuration by defilements, it is the foundational consciousness (kun gzhi) in terms of meaning; since its essence is primordially pure, it is the wisdom of clear light; since it transcends the extremes of affirmation and negation of existence and non-existence, it is the profound emptiness and the view of the Middle Way; since it is liberated from all elaborations, it is the Perfection of Wisdom; since it is primordially immutable, it is Suchness, and so on. Such is the primordially pure, original state, the uncorrected, ordinary awareness, the pure, naturally arising Dharmakaya, the essence of wisdom and awareness, which is shown to possess the nature of the seven vajra qualities. From the mouth of the Omniscient Rangjung Dorje: "It cannot be fathomed by the intellect of conceptual thoughts, it cannot be destroyed by the knowledge of terms, the reality that abides as it is is true, it is difficult for the less fortunate to realize, so it is solid, it is immutable in essence, so it is stable, it pervades and enters all of samsara and nirvana, so it is unobstructed, it cannot be defeated by anything, so it is invincible." Thus, the primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, the Dharmakaya of the Dharmakaya, the great ancestor of samsara and nirvana, the instruction for introducing the nature of that great being as manifestly self-abiding. It is shown through the infallible vajra words of forty verses, and so on. Secondly, the glorious Samantabhadra also, at the beginning of teaching this luminous Great Perfection instruction, as the unique teacher, the glorious Samantabhadra, the teacher without beginning or end, the all-creating King of Wisdom, the Buddha not born from mind, the instruction not born from scripture, the fruit not born from cause, possessing the three self-arisen qualities, to that glorious primordial protector, I pay homage through the gateway of being free from mental fabrication. The second part is divided into: ascertaining the three bases, paths, and fruits; explaining the two, shamatha and vipashyana; explaining awareness as the three kayas; introducing that as spontaneously perfect; showing how the three, view, meditation, and action, are purified in the expanse; what deviations and obstacles should be abandoned; and the seven aspects of showing certainty. First, the reality of the base.
