These excellent scriptures are not mainly explained by the words of expression, grammar, and poetry, but even with the words and phrases of ordinary and vulgar language that possess the four reliances, they clearly and easily teach the correct path. This is the special characteristic of the great, skillful Bodhisattvas. Even the vast elaboration of words by explaining many scholarly scriptures is difficult to fit into the mind-chamber of those with dull intellect, and even the profound essential views and lofty sectarian terms are difficult for the foolish people of this degenerate age to practice. Therefore, for that reason, this preliminary scripture is easy to understand, yet it gathers all the essential points, and even in the mind-chamber of those with little wisdom, it can remain like gold essence. Like a lamp of wisdom illuminating the darkness of the minds of those with inferior intellect, it clearly shows the good meanings to oneself, and it becomes a teacher who never gets angry. Those who obtain the title of scholar by clinging to the edge of argumentative words, and those who are famous as great teachers because they have not mastered all the systems of the Victorious Ones' scriptures, can also drink this excellent explanation that gathers all the essence with humble instructions, and now their bodies and minds will also increase, and they will increase even more by hitting the essential points of practice. Those who boast of being great meditators who blindly throw stones in the darkness of emptiness meditation that is not separated from mental speculation, and those practitioners who uselessly engage in many virtuous activities without the three excellences of preparation, main practice, and conclusion, and those who enter into the pretense of high conduct without having matured their own minds, if they see this path that gathers the whispered instructions, they will hit the essential point and will not beat their chests in regret. I, Paltrul, have also heard many excellent scriptures that cut off the elaboration of argumentative words, and although I am skilled at writing rainbow-like patterns of poetic words, I do not mix even a single word of my own invention with the oral instructions of the kind and holy lamas.

There is definitely nothing missing here. The incomparable great Guru, the supreme Guru, appeared as the actual Buddha, and transformed this snowy land and all the worlds into an auspicious kalpa. Not much time has passed since then, so even now the disciples of the Guru, the Vajra brothers, are still present, and they too will become witnesses to this excellent scripture without self-created words. Therefore, I am striving as a collection of preliminary words of the excellent teachings of the Guru, and this is also due to the kindness of my excellent friends. Therefore, it is appropriate that this handwriting written with faith and excellent thoughts be approved and offered by the brothers and friends, including flowers and deities. Although they are not directly present now, may the fortunate individuals who come in the future also, when they see this excellent explanation, generate the same faith as seeing the actual Lord Guru, the perfect Buddha. And may they think that there is no mistake or error in the essence of the words of that Guru, definitely not. Whatever merit is obtained from composing such an excellent explanation, may all sentient beings who have become parents, from being first taken by an excellent friend, to practicing and experiencing according to the excellent words in the middle, ultimately see and obtain the excellent fruit. In particular, may all the brothers and friends, being nourished together by the nectar of the face of the unique Guru, the actual incarnation of the perfect Buddha, also become enlightened as a group, and be ready to lead all beings to the path of liberation, or even see them entering it directly. Having fully partaken of the essence of the nectar of the excellent teachings of the Guru, intoxicated by the essence of the profound teachings, may the excellent masters who are seated as the representatives of the greatly kind Guru, who effortlessly attract the minds of the fortunate ones with the song of ripening and liberation, also remain forever stable on the unchanging Vajra throne of the lotus feet.

愿安住于此！作者我，亦从今起，于生生世世的轮回中，成为至尊上师及其追随者的仆役，遵照一切所说之教诲而行，愿以极大的欢喜而摄受我。轮回存在之边际，以及有情众生之边际，只要存在，我之身体、受用、三时之善，即完全摄持之三基，全部聚集堆积，为被三种痛苦所折磨的母众生们，做仆役，愿所有这些众生，皆能受持圆满佛陀果位的法。任何时候，秘密心髓传承珍贵之加持之日光，皆能良好地照耀于心，于无人之寂静处，将此一生修至究竟，愿于无与伦比之殊胜上师处，于法性光明之状态中而去！ 百字明释。

May I, the author, from this moment onwards, in all lifetimes of rebirth, become a servant of the supreme venerable Guru and their followers, accomplishing whatever is said as their command, and may I be taken care of with great joy. As long as the limits of samsaric existence and the limits of sentient beings remain, may my body, possessions, and the goodness of the three times, that is, the three bases of complete possession, be gathered and piled up, and may I serve as a servant to the mother beings who are tormented by the three sufferings, and may all those beings uphold the Dharma of the state of perfect Buddhahood. At any time, may the sunlight of the precious blessings of the Secret Heart Essence lineage shine well in my heart, and having perfected this entire life in a solitary place without people, may I go in the state of the clear light of Dharmata to the presence of the incomparable holy Guru!
