This is to have well ascertained the root cause, that the main cause of wandering uncontrollably without a pursuer is the mind. Finding fault is the reasoning for establishing it. Thirdly, the place of arising, the place of dwelling, the place of going, i.e., the three objects, and the one who arises, the one who dwells, the one who goes, i.e., the three subjects, like the reasoning of the Middle Way, or when determined by examining the logic of the accumulation and destruction of atoms, when all objects and subjects are empty as they appear, and when the correct realization of the union of appearance and emptiness, which is appearing as emptiness, arises, if one remains in equanimity in that realization, Dodrupchen Rinpoche said to Nyag Rong Tertön that there is a difference from the view of the Middle Way. This is a sign of not having the clinging to the four extremes, and from the essence of reality, appearance arises unceasingly, and as a result of the correct view pervading one's own mind, whatever arises is liberated without the opportunity to accumulate habitual patterns. Thus, I have written it down word for word, grasping the flesh and hair. The three pitfalls are: the alaya is the unpredicted consciousness, the consciousness that looks outward, its nature is non-conceptual, its appearance is clear and bright, it focuses on the vast container and its contents. If it appears, it appears; if it clings, it does not cling. It does not focus on external objects, does not meditate internally, and does not abide in the middle. It is not delusion, and there is no fatigue or dullness, etc. Its nature is the alaya, and its appearance is the consciousness of the alaya. For example, like the appearance of a newborn baby, because the five sense consciousnesses do not spread to objects, they do not know the difference between pillars, vases, etc., so they do not make the gesture of 'this is this, this is not that.' Longchenpa said: 'When someone's thoughts are interrupted by the force of difficulty, that is the alaya.' Ordinary people, in times of difficulty, fear, and forgetfulness, the alaya is produced by conditions. Yogis appear on the alaya through the power of cultivating the path. The king of all higher seeing is the wisdom of clear light, otherwise, all phenomena have the wisdom of truth and emptiness, and there is liberation in movement, etc. There are many kinds of higher seeing. Abiding in what and causeless samadhi, and the emptiness of realizing the two selflessnesses, and the Great Perfection abiding in the state of clear light, etc., because there is nothing.

Among the five sense consciousnesses, the eye consciousness, aided by the mind consciousness, focuses on the sky, thereby generating the experience of merging with the external sky. Even if wisdom guards, if meditation is prolonged, the essence of wisdom will be lost from the eye consciousness, thereby generating the experience of merging with the sky. The signs are that at the summit of a high mountain, when the sky is clear, and when opening the doors and windows of a house, it appears even clearer and brighter than before. Closing the eyes, the sky becoming overcast, the time of darkness, and the occurrence of dimness when closing doors and windows are the results of the eye consciousness going astray. Even if the three thousand worlds are obscured in darkness, I will not be obscured. It is said that this means that in dreams and in the bardo's clear light, etc., everything appears transparently. It is said that it is impossible to be stained by such external conditions. The methods to avoid obstacles are to meditate at the summit of a high mountain, with eyes closed, or by first separating oneself with a wall. The mind consciousness is that without relying on manifest signs, it is impossible for inference to arise. Therefore, when the senses encounter objects, the object of sense consciousness is manifest. Although the object of mind consciousness is inference, the objects of mind consciousness appear to oneself as manifest, but in reality, they are not manifest but inference. It is said that the consciousness of the object of inference is of the same continuum as that consciousness. The three experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, and the four states of undifferentiated emptiness, are the objects to be experienced by the mind consciousness. It is said that the mind consciousness is the holder of the objects that hold these experiences. The afflicted mind is attachment, such as clinging to and being attached to any experience, and being unable to let go. If rough experiences and discomfort, etc., arise, then hatred is the suffering mind with the attitude of abandoning them. Ignorance is the bewilderment of the intermediate state that is neither abandoning nor accepting. Such alaya consciousness is unspecified. Among the five sense consciousnesses, the eye consciousness is the most pervasive, therefore the eye consciousness, and the three of bliss, clarity, and non-thought of the mind consciousness, and the four states of undifferentiated emptiness, are the three or four great places of straying. It is very important to carefully examine whether one's own experiences and places of straying are correct or not. Sometimes abide in the clear light, and sometimes bring the above-mentioned places of straying to mind and meditate, alternating between them.
