If one strives without being tainted by conceptual elaborations of the supreme path, then the great meaning of what is called 'Buddha' (Enlightened One) also resides in that very source of the joyful city (referring to the state of inner peace). Do not boast, claiming 'I am skilled,' 'I am an accomplished one,' and making grand pronouncements. Do not construct buildings larger than temples, monasteries, or even towns. Do not spend time on various tales of unaccomplished worldly affairs. Do not divert the wealth of others to oneself. Because one's mind is burdened by both innate and imputed dualistic views, one does not find the opportunity to generate correct views. By arguing about both feelings and perceptions, one constantly generates the aggregates of anger. Those who are not on one's side, those who are on the side of others, are considered beings wandering in the four types of rebirth, those who hold the banner of the Tirthikas (non-Buddhists) with their 'red flags' (referring to the symbols of non-Buddhist sects). If one holds such thoughts in mind, one will not go from happiness to happiness. In any case, 'Be careful, be careful!' The sound of birds flapping their wings clearly fell upon the ears. 'It is true! It is true!' He pressed his palms together at the place where the wish-fulfilling jewel resides (the heart), and spoke these words: 'For those teachings that do not benefit anyone, followers are as rare as lotuses on a broad road. The supreme words of the holy ones, like Mount Meru, are difficult for a humble and knowledgeable person like me to comprehend. Like clouds driven by fierce winds, these aggregates are certain to quickly perish. Endless enjoyments are like Indra's bow, worldly affairs are like unclean drawings. I aspire to happiness in the next life.' By the power of the ten strengths of the Buddhas of the three times, may auspiciousness and well-being prevail in this world! From the fingers of the Blessed Amitabha (Amitabha, Immeasurable Light), may longevity and prosperity come to beings in the three realms! By the power of the master of the treasury of secret mantras, may strength and auspiciousness come to all beings! From the power of the treasure-owning lord Vaisravana (Vaisravana, the God of Wealth), may a rain of wealth fall upon these lands! ' With these auspicious verses, the work is well adorned. This treatise on drama, entitled 'The Clear and Vast Drama,' was composed by Sonam Sangpo, a wandering monk, a master of the three pitakas, a scholar worthy of reverence by all poets, a source of reason and tradition, on an auspicious day in the fourth month of the Wood Ox year, at the great Dewachen (Sukhavati) monastic college, a gathering place for many scholars. May this ensure the long endurance of the Buddha's teachings! Mangalam! Bhavantu! Shubham! Here ends the text of 'The Clear and Vast Drama.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
