The Ornament of Other-Emptiness Madhyamaka. The Ornament of Other-Emptiness Madhyamaka. This is the treatise called "The Ornament of Other-Emptiness Madhyamaka." Om Svasti! Namo Buddhaya! By the flame of your wisdom vajra, the mountain and forest of self-grasping are destroyed. The seven consciousnesses abide underground, protecting the world. I prostrate to the King of Conquerors, who has become the god of gods. I will explain how his teachings manifest in different stages, and how everything converges into this Dharma-nature. However, for children who quarrel due to disagreement, I will bestow the key points of correct reasoning. In this snowy land, there are no holders of non-Buddhist tenets or Hearer's disciplines. To dispel those who, due to their habits, misinterpret the meaning of the supreme Great Vehicle, I will refute them. Indian scholars believe that all words spoken by the Victorious One are valid cognitions. They believe that the Buddha, who has exhausted all faults of reasoning, does not speak falsely. Therefore, Hearers say that the Great Vehicle is not the Buddha's word. If it is established as the Buddha's word, they will accept it. Thus, the establishment of the Great Vehicle's scriptures relies on treatises. Tibetans believe that some scriptures agree with their own desires, and all others are provisional, because they are for the benefit of beings. Although wonderful, they are considered false because they do not accord with reality. Holding such a view, the words of a valid person cannot be established. If the Victorious One, who has exhausted all faults, speaks falsely, then what need is there to mention noble disciples who have abandoned some faults, and ordinary beings who possess all faults? If one believes that someone with falsehood is not a valid person, then how can one uphold a Buddhist tenet while believing that the Buddha is not a valid person? The above establishes the Victorious One's words as those of a valid person. Most Tibetans believe that the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma are such that the first turning speaks falsely to establish that all phenomena are truly existent, the middle turning is definitive because it explains emptiness, and the later turning becomes provisional because it explains existence. Generally, all provisional meanings are not false words, but rather steps on the path that lead to the supreme reality. To explain conventional truth, one speaks provisionally, and to explain the reality of ultimate phenomena, one speaks definitively, as the wise believe. All explanations of the need to explain that Dharma are considered provisional, but all Dharma, for the sake of taming disciples, will turn into provisional meanings. Nagarjuna and the brothers Asanga summarized the intention of the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma into one.

Practice. In the first turning of the wheel, when conventional truth is taught, it is taught according to how it appears. In terms of examining the nature of reality, it is not shown as truly established, so there are no false words in it. In the intermediate turning, when all conditioned and unconditioned phenomena are negated, everything is conventional truth, such as the tathāgatagarbha, etc. Whether they exist or not, nothing is taught, and there is no examination. Therefore, these two are not contradictory in the ultimate sense. However, at first, conventional truth is mainly taught, in the middle, half of the definitive meaning is shown, and finally, the definitive meaning and ultimate truth are completely shown. Like medicine for a sick person and examples for learning letters, this is the meaning, and there are contradictions in others. At first, if it is said that all phenomena are self-established, then there will be internal contradictions with the sutras of Katyayana's instructions, etc. In the middle, if the dharmadhatu of ultimate truth, etc., is negated, then there will be internal contradictions with the sutras of Maitreya's questions, etc. The above is an examination of the way the three turnings of the wheel are taught. Furthermore, in the chapter on the unchanging nature of reality, it is said: Subhuti, in this way, all phenomena are illusions, and some of them are illusions of shravakas, some are illusions of pratyekabuddhas, some are illusions of bodhisattvas, some are illusions of tathagatas, some are illusions of afflictions, and some are illusions of dharmas. Subhuti, therefore, all phenomena are like illusions. It is said. Question: What is the non-illusory dharma? Answer: Subhuti, whatever has no birth and no cessation is non-illusory. Question: Blessed One, what is that? Subhuti, that is the non-deceptive nature of reality, nirvana, this dharma is non-illusory. Thus, it is consistently taught in the three sutras. This refutes the view that the two truths are the same in existence and non-existence. Then, as the emptiness taught by the Sugata, the distinctions of the definitive meaning sutras, from which beings, persons, and individuals are shown, know that all dharmas are of guiding significance. If you say that you do not accept these, then you certainly accept them. When the tathāgatagarbha is taught in the final turning of the wheel, it is only shown as emptiness, and it is not elaborated on, nor is the excellent self and the individual shown. If it is in accordance with this, then know that the final turning is the most excellent. Ishvara, etc., are also said to be noble, but they should not be taught, these words
